What Kind of Weapon Could Possibly Cause a Firearm to be Inoperable?

This seems impossible. Trump says when we raided Venezuela that somehow not only were their soldiers discombobulated, but their firearms wouldn't work. That they would pull the trigger and nothing would happen.
Any ideas?

That is Trump speak. He is saying the surface to air missiles and radars were useless.

So despite what seems to me to be pretty clear context, you’re going with he was saying their “firearms” wouldn’t fire? As in sidearms and long guns, rifles and whatnot? You do you, I guess.

I don't think so. He said that they couldn't even fire one shot at us. That they would pull the trigger and nothing would happen. THEN he talked about the SAMs not working either.

It sounds to me like the people were rendered inoperable, not the weapons. I guess some crew served weapons could have electronics you could disable, but most small arms are purely mechanical. Disabling them would require something like alien technology. Even if we could do it I doubt we would blow our cover on an operation like this. That's an ace you would save for an all in, do or die hand.

I asked a question, you fricking imbecile. And apparently the first reply to the thread is the correct answer. Ask an AI if it's possible for an electromagnetic ray device to disable a firearm. The answer is yes. And we know they used such devices during the raid.

I don't think he said what you think he said. We have non-lethal energy weapons that can essentially neutralize a threat by incapacitating the person. They couldn't fire their weapons not because their weapon didn't work but because they couldn't physically use them.

He confirmed exotic weaponry in use during the raid just today. Apparently an electromagnetic ray device (the same thing used to cause those Venezuelans to bleed from the nose and mouth) could potentially disable firearms by melting internal components of said firearms.
