Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st. Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland. Further information will be made available as discussions progress. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — They will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

I like how he speaks like he's a dictator and that all decisions go through him. It's got to be triggering to the left.

I hope it does. If they call him a king and everything is his responsibility then that’s what it is.

So it is all theater. Stoke up the fire then find a way to let it burn out.

Read between the lines its not a full on purchase of Greenland but a deal regarding American presence, extraction of rare earth metals, and ability to put up ICBM defense

It’s amazing how people haven’t figured out his negotiating tactic. Bluster and make outrageous statements to get everyone to the table and then have very coherent and reasonable requests.

Yeah, we figured it out. We didn’t get Greenland today.

Probably. Jens Stoltenberg's book had a really interesting description of a meeting in 2018 that may have played a part in Trump's issue with Denmark.

Something he would have gotten from the Danes without the bluster. All theater.....he is Dramaticus, Master Thespian.

We will see.

There are rare earth minerals there that are crucial to national defense. Maybe we get all of the benefit of them and the Danes get nothing.

What? Did he think Mel Gibson got a raw deal in the whole Hamlet thing? He didn't like his ham that he got that previous Christmas?

Yes, but without "ownership" of the territory.

Only reason I can think he worded it the way he did.

It would be win regardless.

No, it was something about the Danish PM at the time speaking out of turn, in Trump's view, about the Danish contribution to the effort in Afghanistan. I have to go find the passage again.
