If anyone is interested in how kids impact building wealth, this video goes into some deep data on a recent study about how kids (and other demographics) impact wealth building. Here is a 15min video from Erin Talks Money regarding the study:
TLDW: Once again married couples with kids come out on top. So if you want to get good at building wealth, get yourself a good wife and have some babies!

These are generally the most stable people so it makes sense they would more often than not be wealthier.

Having kids supersedes any amount of wealth accumulation.

You also work a lot harder when you have a family to support. If it were just me, I could live on 1/10th of my current family income. Maybe less, since I'd be living with my mom and she's a great cook.

Yes. Having children changes the mindset of people and one of the direct impacts of this change is the view on finances and planning for the future. It makes a lot of sense when it gets broken down.

Having children definitely made me less reactive to temporary workplace problems. That resulted in an adult working life where I only had two different employers. A healthy 401k uninterrupted for decades and a great family are worth the sacrifice.

Nothing wrong with having a bunch of kids (if you can afford them and raise them right) and nothing wrong with opting not to have any. Do what makes you happy.

I don’t know. I look at my credit card bills and I probably spend $500 a month on myself
