I browse occasionally on On3 where the prominent poster “Iowa” commented this yesterday. I thought I should share here cause it pumped me tf up.

Sam Petitio will earn his money & more

quote:

One of the biggest changes you’ll see is, Lane is going to use all of the scholarships allotted to him. He’s going to take 105 kids. Those 3 stars with traits from Louisiana like a Nate Shepherd, he’s gonna fill the back half of his roster with kids who have high upside, want to be here and can be developed. The scouting department leaves no stone unturned.

Don’t see this happening for now. Scholarship’s still eat into athletic budget but they’ll for sure take some flyers.

I heard Elko at A&M is aiming for a roster just under 105, so he can keep the extra meal vouchers for himself.

Great let's take care of our own. Always said a LA 3 star is better than some states 4 stars. LA boys have LA pride and most have that dawg in them to fight for LSU. Tired of seeing these kids ball out for other universities.

There's no reason not to. If your opponents have 105 players and you only have 85 then you're at a disadvantage.

Who said anything about 85? Just don’t think they max the 105.

Brian Kelly was reactive in CFB hence why we felt behind in NIL, portal, etc.

Lane Kiffin is proactive & reshaping CFB

Most of the extras will never see the field but help with practice bodies to spread the wear around. Every now and then a diamond in the rough might emerge and you never really know until the player has a chance to develop.

Before the portal season I would have thought the money angle would limit it also, but it seems like money grows on those stately oaks and broad magnolias so in Lane I trust.

Developing some 3 stars into studs will mitigate the inevitable players you lose to the portal each year, chasing pay checks.

We had to break the bank to stock up this year but developing from within is essential to keeping up with the NIL treadmill.

Recruiting 20 extra spots for La kids also helps keep the local communities involved with LSU

i am betting that he might go for two different OTs that won't cost 3 million for this reason.

These 5stars can bust as well.

I think the reason he left BR wo a commit becasue we arent offering what the others ar.

Remember the Honey Badger was a 3 star unknown player.

No, I don't, but not surprising since he was a 4-star. Maybe you're thinking of Justin Jefferson or Jacob Hester?

Honey Badger was a 3 star until the Tennessee camp. The word was out after that.
