LINK
Came out when I was a pre-teen
1980.
Loved the soundtrack
Sword and sorcery
Jack Palance as the villain etc.

Somehow missed that one. The next year had Dragonslayer and Excalibur

It’s Definitely not on production par with Excalibur, but it’s a bit of a hidden gem in my humble opinion

Remember it fondly. Synth music. Hate that the elf died at the end.

From Empire Strikes Back to Time Bandits, there's a string of fantasy / sci-fi that came out that year.

Pretty much all of them are worth a watch
To add to that
Dungeons and Dragons RP had become mainstream at that time. Just a great era of cheese and abundance

Well there went half my intrigue into checking it out.

I don't remember this one although I do remember Palance with that helmet covering half of his face.
It must not have been part of the regular rotation on cable like Beastmaster. lol. We all remember Beastmaster because it was on HBO 30 times a day.
If it was part of the rotation, I must not have liked it because I don't remember it like I remember Beastmaster, Sword and the Sorcerer, Excalibur, and Conan. Those all had fantasy and tits. I bet Hawk had no tits. lol.

I must have seen at least part of this because I thought Palance WAS in Beastmaster too!

That was Rip Torn.

Same thing.
j/k
I must have flipped over and saw some of Hawk at some point. I do remember seeing Jack Palance in some fantasy flick, even if I didn't know the title.
And as for Rip.

I just watched about 10 minutes of it. Looks like total rubbish. Cliched', cheap production values, horrible dialogue and acting.
