And now have zero 2026 picks. And gave up full rights to the bucks 2027 pick and turned it into a swap. Is that right?

All to end up with Derik Queen, Jeremiah Fears, and minimal draft capital going forward.

Is there another example of management malpractice worse than this in nba history?

This all started with the Dyson trade that I said was a bad trade for us and everyone thought I was crazy.

Not only has Dyson turned into a good young player, but not having the ‘25 Lakers pick we traded in the Dyson deal caused Dumars to use the pacers pick which holds tremendous value now.

And there’s a pretty good chance that both us and the bucks suck in ‘27. We get whichever pick is greater, but i have a feeling the hawks will end up with another top ten pick from us.

Dumars is an idiot, but you can thank Griff for this parting shite sandwich we have to eat now. Poverty franchises do poverty franchise things.

It was still a dumb trade but Dyson has been pretty bad for Atlanta this year

Worst trades in history?

quote:

Clippers get Paul George

Thunder get Shai, Gallinari, Tre Mann, Jalen Williams, Thomas Sorber, 2026 unprotected first, 2028 Mavericks pick swap

quote:

Lakers get Luka Doncic

Mavericks get Mr. Glass and a 2029 FRP

quote:

Nets get 37 year old Kevin Garnett, 36 year old Paul Pierce, 36 year old Jason Terry, DJ White, 2017 swap (traded for D'Angelo Russell)

Celtics get Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Kris Joseph, Keith Bogans, three 1st-rd picks (Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown [used to trade for Kyrie]) 2017 pick swap (James Young)

quote:

Lakers get Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Walt Wesley

Bucks get Dave Meyers, Elmore Smith, Brian Winters and Junior Bridgeman

quote:

Nets get $

76ers get Dr. J

quote:

76ers get Wilt Chamberlain

Warriors get Connie Dierking, Paul Neumann, Lee Shaffer

The Wilt trade is like if the Mavs traded Luka for Jaxson Hayes.

But yeah having 3 top 10 picks would be real nice right about now...now scouts are calling this the best draft class in a decade

He’s been good every where else but his three point shooting has regressed and has been atrocious this year.

quote:

AndrewDBailey Dyson Daniels leads Atlanta in total minutes and steals and is second in assists and twos. The Hawks are +1.2 points per 100 possessions when he's on the floor and -4.4 when he's not.

Still not bad for someone that the board said sucked and would never be a starter.

We traded him and picks for a dude who hates it here and refuses to play for us even after he’s healthy. Like it was such a horrible trade. There’s no defending it even if Dyson was just a minor role player.

And just remember that we’re not trying to tank at all. We have no incentive to and we’re still the worst team in the league.

Not gonna lie, the longer this season goes on, the more depressed I get. I've already stopped watching this season for the most part. Now with the dumpster fire that is going to be next season, and the fact we're going to miss out on drafting at least one, if not two, potential star players to build the future with, it's fricking rough.

Fears and Queen have a lot of potential, but damn it would've been nice to grab a top 4 pick and get one of Peterson, Boozer, Dybantsa, or Wilson.

Probably not, but the architects of that malpractice are still supported and employed today by a clueless owner. Move the team.

You know full well when the time comes to speak… whenever that is… post season, summer league, pre season whatever… JD will wax lyrical about Queen and also tell us ‘what’s done is done and we can’t dwell on it and have to move forward’

No recognition of the embarrassing mess and yet another utterly wasted season.

In the slight defense of the clippers (more so) and the nets, those teams thought they were getting an immediate window to compete for a title.

The Pelicans did this to draft a guy they thought so highly off they passed on taking him with the 7th pick in the draft.

What are you talking about? You have no idea if Murray is healthy.
and even if Murray did refuse to play for us as you allege, how could you blame him? I wouldn't want to be here either. How he's been treated since he got here is sad, but the norm for this organization. I'd want out if i were him too, and i definitely wouldn't play this season if i were him at this point. keep rehabbing and get healthy for next season, and hope to be traded anywhere to get out of this shithole.

It was a stupid trade b/c we should not have had to give up 2 1sts and Dyson, when the market was saying he was worth just 2 1sts, and he was essentially acquired from the Spurs for 2 firsts just 2 years earlier (it was 3 firsts but one of them never conveyed, as expected, and ended up as 2nds).
That was the norm for Griff, a dumbass who had no fricking idea how to assess value in nba trades, which we can look at many examples of his dumbassery in this area. Just look at how we had to give up assets to get rid of Eric Bledsoe, yet like 2 weeks later the Grizzlies traded him for some worthless 2nds. Griffin is one of the worse GM's ever. Always thought he was the smartest guy in the room, when everyone else was looking at him like he was a retard.

Fears and Queen do but that’s potential will not be realized until they leave. The Pels are sucking their soul and desire right out of them which is why their play has noticeably dropped of late. Barely halfway through their rookie year and they already have a foot out the door. Just pathetic what Gayle has done to a once proud franchise.

The pelicans should just never trade away picks because we can’t sign meaningful free agents.

Queen and Fears are great, but without a trove of picks to build out the roster we will continue to struggle with them and eventually move them and start all over again.

The pelicans need to do whatever they can to void Zion’s contract and unapologetically tank in 2027 and pray it yields a franchise mover.

We are not going far till we unleash Zion. There are hints Dumars does not want to move him.

https://bootkrewemedia.substack.com/p/when-everything-is-broken-start-with

quote:

I’ve talked to (Williamson) about the responsibility of being great and the responsibility of being a leader, of being a captain, of being the best player, of being the face of a franchise,” Dumars told ESPN in July. “I’ve talked to him about how all of those things come with responsibility and how it’s time, now, at 25 years old, to embrace those responsibilities.” Yet, here we are. Wrong. On all of it. The Pelicans entered Wednesday with the worst record in the entire NBA. Again. Williamson played in 27 (of 43) games this year. The Pelicans are 7-20 in those games. It turns out Williamson just isn’t the answer everyone wanted him to be. And it’s possible all those extended injury absences, which caused him to miss more than half of his seven-year career, actually clouded the real problem. He isn’t getting any better at basketball. Whether it’s been a weight thing, a health thing or a maturity thing, the conversation around Williamson almost never involved the actual in-game performance. In the absence of data, most anticipated the same trajectory of improvement seen from league’s brightest talents, where young superstars slowly adapt to the league and add skills to their arsenal each offseason until opponents simply have no answers
