I'm reading "Financial Peace" right now. Has anyone read this or other Ramsey books and followed his plan? Would appreciate some feedback.

Its incredible! If you can get a hold of the DVDs it brings the book to life. Nothing but great things!

His radio show is pretty cool, too. Common sense and discipline will work wonders for anybody.

Did not follow his plan, but have lived those principles (no debt, etc) all along.

I like his show and him (though he is too Jeebus-y for me)

Give it a try. I think you will not regret it.

I almost cut up my AMEX and my Visa ($0 balance) last night, but I just can't do it just yet. They're like a security blanket, just in case?

Why does Ramsey hate AMEX? I only use it for fuel for my work truck, and pay it off every month for the air miles. The way I look at it, if I use cash, I get nothing back.

It's time to work without a net.

NOOOOOOOOOO! I just can't cut them up, you never know when you might need them. My brother told me to put your credit cards in a glass of water, and put them in the freezer. If you get the urge to use them, you have to thaw them out and by the time that happens, you should come to your senses.

He ain't Churchy. He's a Christian who happens to be a financial expert and has helped tons of people get freedom debt.

he's one of the good guys.

Keep the AMEX. Lose the Visa. That give flexibility with less temptation to carry a balance. Also, AMEX extends the warranty of products you buy, etc.

I like Ramsey, but don't worship the dude. His biggest audience is the people that got themselves over their heads because of no discipline. THOSE folks should have NO cards at all.

I've given him tons of credit and said I like him. He IS, however, quite "churchy". No issue there. He is free to be that and his advice is good.

His advice follows in lock step with biblical principles on money and stewardship.

The bible takes money seriously... over 2,000 verses in the bible revolve around money and stewardship.

So, you may be a little more "churchy" than you think. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
