newly opened in gods country, the original location is in Metairie and it started as a pop up and food truck. Chicken sandwiches, burgers and some rotating menu items. Today for example they had a big smoker out in the parking lot and were selling brisket and pork. Two visits, once alone and once with my wife
Original chicken sandwich is very good, spice level is optional, the breast filet is huge and the bun is high quality. Juicy and flavorful.
Chicken thigh sandwich even better, I had a curry jalepeno version that was very tasty and much smaller than the breast which I preferred. They do an excellent job at the fry station. House made pickles on both sandwiches are nice.
Smashburger will hit all the notes if you like that style and I do. It was the winner of the three sandwiches and I’d go back just for that.
Sides are horrible. Limited to frozen crinkle cut fries and frozen battered rings. Fries are sad but edible, rings are trash. One other thing they should upgrade is condiments…off brand ketchup packets as the only option for dine in is pretty weak, especially considering the prices which are not crazy but not cheap. It was 40 bucks for two people
The people working there are super friendly, the place is nice and clean and everything (sandwiches at least) is made to order.
If they upgraded the sides (fresh cut fries/rings and adding some options like slaw or something) it would be a home run. As it is we will just order the sandwiches next time. 9/10 on the chicken and 10/10 on the burger.

Metry > Hammond
Metry has some pretty good cracklins

they are on the Hammond menu I didn’t try them. But the idea of cracklins as a side to a fried chicken sandwich doesn’t really appeal to me LOL

Cracklin are money and a side for anything they have on the menu.
Their specials are always very good, including the in house smoked meats Cuban.

I’ll try the cracklins next I guess. Wouldn’t want to turn queer or anything. But I’d rather have some slaw or potato salad

100% agree with everything you said, including the sides. If I get a side I do stick to the cracklin but man that makes for a heavy meal, and they aren't cheap either.
If you ever get a chance to try the pork chop sandwich special (currently the special in Metry this weekend) absolutely get it. It's my favorite thing they do.
I've been a big fan of Southerns from their early food truck days, before they were at Miel. Even won an IG contest back in the day to name their Sweet Prince sandwich. Good people and happy to see them succeed and expand.

Same.
The reply did too.
Haven't been to this place yet. Might have to make a round on a cheat day.

Had the Sweet Prince with Phuket fries
Felt higher quality than any other chicken sandwich you can get

I enjoyed it also, a friend went on Saturday when they had BBQ and said it was excellent!
Geaux Philly next door is great as well, two new additions to Hammond that i hope stay!

I haven't gotten around to trying them yet, I did try La Concinita this past weekend and it was pretty good.

Huge fan of Southern’s and I agree that the fries kind of suck. But the sandwich should fill anyone up just fine.
