The Day After Tomorrow

Is there a lot of cussing in this movie. We're studying climate in my class and was wondering if it would be appropriate for 9th graders. Thanks.

I don't recall a ton of cussing, but I haven't seen it in awhile. I'm sure there's instances where there are, though. Worse case, you could always send home a permission slip to the parents, asking if their child can watch it. Most, if not all, will say yes.

It's fine for 9th graders. It's not inappropriate. However, the movie sucks and is based off of ridiculousness. Good movie for any class except Science.

You should just lobotomize the kids with a rusty power drill and save them 2 hours of real pain.

If you are using this movie to prove global warming is real and dangerous then please step into oncoming traffic first.
Just joking....slightly.

You shouldn't be.
Even more so if the aim is to show the possible effects of global warming.

I would recommend airing "Two days before the Day after Tomorrow" instead.

Punch up the movie on Screenit.com or Netflix.com. Both websites will give you the exact content of the movie so there won't be any surprises.

Using Day After Tomorrow to teach climate changes = using West Side Story to teach gang violence.

In actuality, as a science teacher you should be showing them this:
The Great Global Warming Swindle
The Great Global Warming Swindle
quote:
Distinguished scientists specializing in climate and climate-related fields talk in plain English and present readily understood graphs showing what a crock the current global-warming hysteria is.
These include scientists from MIT and top-tier universities in a number of countries. Some of these are scientists whose names were paraded on some of the global-warming publications that are being promoted in the media — but who state plainly that they neither wrote those publications nor approved them.

About the only thing that made sense in this movie was when he requested higher priority system time to run his climate models on the supercomputers. I was like hey that actually happens.. That was about the end to the realm of possibilities though.

You're right. Depending on what he's actually teaching, he should be presenting at least two sides of a controversial issue. Otherwise, he could get called out.

It is always good to show both sides.

Well actually if you ask any Climatologist..
Officially (If they want funding) Global warming is a major major problem..
Unofficially for many if not most its a joke.
