Considering converting to Catholicism in this new year. Any converts here with advice?

Background: I’m 28 and my best friend from since we were kids is currently in OCIA. We were both pretty adamantly Protestant until he had a pretty quick change of heart . I always held a really caricatured view of the Pope and the Catholic Church I guess before he decided to start converting.
After a lot of research, soul searching, and coming to Mass a decent amount this year, I’m thinking I may have had the whole wrong idea about Catholicism and am feeling drawn to the church.
The issue is family. My family is pretty staunchly in that “Catholics worship Mary and you are playing with fire over there. Never convert.” range that I grew up in. Hell, I know my late Nana would have some things to say about it. But it doesn’t change that I feel drawn to the church.
Any others ever dealt with this on either side of it with family or have any advice?

Are you attracted to young boys?

Would be a far better thing to be drawn to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Take solace in the fact that Catholics were the first Christians.

Oh that’s not a question. I don’t think that the Holy Spirit and Jesus are not with me in the church I’m in now. I’m not saying I need the Church to have Jesus. But for many reasons I think my journey may be more complete or better had in the Catholic Church. No knock on the churches I grew up in.

Isn`t Episcopalian just like Catholism, except the preists can marry?
Its like Diet Catholic.

I’m a convert. I was a Protestant minister and missionary in Cambodia for 6 years. I’m happy to talk to you about it.
But I certainly don’t want to debate the diverse group of the ignorant.

"There are not a hundred people in America who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions of people who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church — which is, of course, quite a different thing."- Bishop Fulton Sheen

Naw... Episcopalians have lesbian cross dressing trannies in the pulpit now. And marry the gays. They've gone completely off the rails.

Start the process and decide for yourself.

Man is shooting fireworks on TD tonight!
Practicing Catholic here, I dont worship her (and have never been asked to, I'll add) but hold her in high regard due to her being the mother of God on earth. Go to mass, pray with your family. They will come around. We've got every denomination in our family. We've yet to have an issue praying together.

As long as the priest stays away from touching your Holy Spirit you should be fine.

My advice is to ignore protestants.

they're coming for the southern baptists next. I shall be standing in the churchhouse door, ready to greet them w/a shotgun

Catholics hate gay marriage but look the other way when priests molest little boys.

Best decision I ever made. Catholicism much more defensible than all the offshoots that simply check the arbitrary boxes of other denominations. “Oh I don’t like confession, my denomination doesn’t have that and I’ll call it Xism.” Watered down BS. Attend mass in a big cathedral and leave all doubt behind you.

Welcome home!
You will learn most of the Protestant arguments are misconceptions. History, church fathers, and the original sources are rich with Catholic dogma. Almost 2,000 years old! The oldest continuous institution in human history!
Listen to some great Catholic Apologetics podcasts like Shameless Popery, Eternal Christendom, Joe in Black, Council of Trent, Pints with Aquinas.
Walking with God is a great quick narrative summary of the Bible.
Ascension press makes a great Catechism.
The ignatius press Catholic study bible is amazing.
