Looking to get my maximum contribution for 2025 and then later in the week for 2026. Only thing I’m having trouble with is the portfolio mix. I’m thinking 70% VOO, 20% QQQM, and 10% VXUS. Any thoughts?

You have until April 15 to contribute to the Roth IRA for 2025 so don’t feel like you have to get it done today. You’ll just designate what year the contribution is from when you make the contribution

You're 20, don't worry about getting the mix right at this point. I wish I had started a Roth AND maxed it out when I was 20.

Put it in VFIAX right now and call it a day. You literally can't go wrong with that. I have about 60% of mine in VFIAX, some in VWUSX (which is mostly Nasdaq stuff) and lately I've been getting more into VGT. There's overlap there, though, and I'm eventually going to decide if I want all my Nasdaq stuff in VWUSX or go sector specific with VGT.

If you're 20 and you're maxing it out each year starting now, it literally does not matter what you put it in at this point. You will be very wealthy by the time you're 60.

Thats a reasonable mix, 100% equities at 20 makes sense. Consider using Robinhood to get the 3% contributuon match with $5/m gold membership. Costs just $60/yr to get $435 (2025/2026 match)

At 20 I would put 100% into FXAIX for at least the next decade

Just having a Roth at 20 is a big win good job!

Personally my mix is 60% s&p, 25% international, and 15% small/mid cap.

Like others said at your age putting it all in s&p is probably fine. Just having a Roth at all at 20 puts you ahead of 99.9% of peers so don't overthink it too much.

A different perspective..

Regular 401.. sp index fund.. I have a lot of FXAIX .. my main holding in my 401..
Roth .. at your age .. take at least 10 percent and throw it down on a few gambles .. if you get lucky and find something like Netflix .. meta.. apple.. and let it roll until you are 65 it will have a big impact on taxes paid.. RMD .. etc
