A tie between the Saints and Falcons would also leave them in 4th place.

The Saints are currently drafting 8th overall and can't drop any lower with a loss. If scenario #1 happens, the Saints would jump from 8th overall to the 10th pick just by jumping the other two NFC South teams. Chiefs, Dolphins and Bengals could all potentially lose dropping them to 11th-13th.

This isn’t correct. We were dead last in the division last year and Carolina picked in the draft ahead of us.

Draft position is determined by record and SOS percentage when teams are tied.

I don't care if it does drop us from 8 to 10. frick the ATL. I want to beat those frickers 77-0 every time we face them.

Its based on SOS which the Saints would change after the Week 18 win. That's why Carolina picked above the Saints because the Bears and Jets were both 5-12 last year.

It's amazing that after a 1-8 start... we have a legit path to finish 2nd in the division

Isn’t that what I said? Your post said we’d jump the two other teams in the nfc south and the scenario you cited was us finishing 2nd in the division.

Finishing 2nd in the division has us playing:
Dallas
San Francisco
Chargers

Finishing 3rd in the division would have us playing:
Washington
Rams
Kansas City

Finishing 4th in the division would have us playing:
Giants
Arizona
Las Vegas

Finishing 4th would definitely be the easiest schedule next year.

That is a huge difference in schedule difficulty. I know you can't predict how teams will do one year to the next (KC/WAS) but the quality of those organizations is miles apart.

I’d rather finish 4th and lose a close one to ATL. Atlanta has nothing to play for either. Go into next year and beat ATL’s arse.

Correct from a fans perspective understood from a FO but wrong to a team.

Scenario one is wild to think about 2 months ago.

Atlanta is such a weird team. They looked like the clear best team in the division against buffalo and in the first half against the rams. Then they look like complete shite at others. I do think they have a lot of weapons and a pretty strong pass rush.

It certainly would be beneficial to have a last place schedule but it would also be nice to get another win against a non bottom feeder to end the year. Either way it’s fine.
