19 rescued in ‘Home for the Holidays’ human trafficking sting

Last week, District Attorney Summer Stephan announced the results of the annual “Home for the Holidays” Human Trafficking Task Force Operation, which took place Dec. 10–12 at motels in Chula Vista, National City and San Diego. All 19 victims were offered services aimed at helping them leave exploitation and begin the recovery process.

The operation also led to the arrest of four adult men — including a registered sex offender — on charges including pimping, pandering, and violating a protective order. In addition, six misdemeanor citations were issued to people accused of attempting to buy sex.
“The ugly truth is that sex trafficking remains a lucrative criminal industry fueled by demand, generating over $810 million a year in San Diego County,” Stephan said. She praised law enforcement and victim advocates for working together to recover victims, some as young as 12, and for holding traffickers and buyers accountable. “Law enforcement will not tolerate this modern-day slavery of vulnerable victims who are bought and sold like a slice of pizza,” she continued.

Beginning Jan. 1, Assembly Bill 379 will make buying sex from a minor a felony offense

In 2024, task force operations recovered 47 juveniles, and in 2025, 62 juveniles have been recovered to date, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Yeah this is what would be labeled a random prostitution sting 15 years ago.
Black market prostitution is typically ugly for sure, but there is a reason it's been going on like this since Sumer and is called the world's oldest profession.

of course, Cali is pushing to reduce the severity of this type of crime

This type of scenario is much tougher and complicated than the emotional reacts to it. In this type of prostitutions you're dealing with a lot of runaways who are often leaving homes/foster homes full of physical and sexual abuse. They are minors without proper paperwork so to live they're going to end up in the black market somehow. For thousands of years, prostitution has been a profession that is available to this specific type of kid.
Where things get complicated is what type of black market economic opportunity they seek if prostitution isn't an option. It's one of those situations where the cure may end up worse than the disease, and the focus should be on preventing the disease in the first place.
But then we get into funding foster care and CPS more and engaging in more oversight of families which has its own complications, which I get.
It's just a messy, complicated, situation without a real clear solution, and that's often ignored by people reacting purely emotionally and rejecting any rational discussion over the totality of the issues presented.

Excuses are for losers, condoning this makes you a pathetic one indeed.
And yes, you are making excuses for this, just like you do for any of them.

We have missed these attempted explanations in the Epstein files threads.

You know you sound exactly like the perverts who try to claim that molesting a 13 year old isn't pedophilia, right?
You may be "technically" correct, but you still come across as someone trying to soften their crimes. Sometimes, it's better to use common sense and keep your mouth shut instead of showing everyone you're a creep.

it is absolutely not more complicated
nor is it "tougher"
minimum 15 years for the "John's" for buying sex from a minor
but, but, I did not knowe she was a minior, she said she was 18 (or he for the really sick ones)
tough shite - 15 years in the "frick you in the arse prison" - ignorance of the law (or the prostitute's age) is no excuse
don't like it? don't frick prostitutes and you have nothing to worry about
also; KNOWING the potential penalty could be (and would be IMO) a further disincentivefor the potential John's; which would likely drive down demand!
see - it really isn't complicated
the only thing that is "tough" is that democrats are basically evil and want to make it easier to abuse children
what other "black market options" some may seek is irrelevant - these people are already abusing children - let's make it something that absolutely ruins them and destroys their lives if they get caught
