McKinley is not living up to his five star rating as a defensive tackle. He has good size and some quickness, but he does not make plays. Personally, I think that he could be a very good offensive tackle, and we certainly need offensive tackles.

He made plays all year. He also took on blocks to allow the LB to make plays which is the design in Bakers defense. Kid was a true freshman.

First, he’s not a true freshman. He’s a sophomore. And he didn’t make plays all year. In fact most of the time you didn’t even know he was on the field. Gooden made plays in Baker’s defense. Guillory made plays in Baker’s defense. McKinley didn’t.
Hes not a bad player. He just hasn’t been the game wrecker most hope to see from a 5 star, top rated DT.

He was a backup NG this year, numbers aren’t gonna tell you the story. Last season we played our DTs differently so even though he had limited snaps his numbers were better. He’s a good player who could be great.

He had flashes all year. I'd love to keep him and see what he can do with another year of development. Definitely need someone in portal to go alongside him though.

Need to find another Gooden. Baker’s first year we played more traditional 2 big DTs with a shade player. This year we went with a true nose (Guillory) and a small upfield DT (Gooden), who goes about 270ish, and it worked better for Baker’s defense. Dom is gonna be good at the nose but we need that slasher on the side of him for the D to keep improving.

I miss guys like dorsey, lavalais, and kyle williams who could get in the backfield and disrupt plays. We havent had one of those guys in a long time. I think mckinley had like 5 tackles all season
