Need ideas for a personalized gift for Dad

My mother died recently….so recently all Christmas gifts were purchased and wrapped. One of her own gifts was a link bracelet, 3 rows wide. He can’t deal with any of these gifts and in time, I would like to have this bracelet turned into something that he will treasure for the rest of his days. They were just short of their 50 year anniversary. He is not a cuff links, jewelry, or dress up kind of man. He hunts and is the man who has all the tools and much of the knowledge on how to fix something. He is successful in retirement and has spent an immeasurable amount of sweat equity over the years for family and friends.
Any unique ideas or points of contact for ideas of something meaningful that this bracelet could be turned into for him would be appreciated. I’m fully committed to the bracelet being dismantled and redone as something useful like a keychain or something. I just don’t have ideas of where to turn plus I’m not creative to have ideas for what something could elevate to.
Location North Louisiana but that doesn’t necessarily limit me.
Thank you in advance.

Could be cool if it can be melt down and inlaid in the handle of a pocket knife. No idea if that’s possible.

These are the kinds of ideas that I’m looking for, and honestly also be pointed in the direction of the person who can make something like that happen. Thank you!

Can you somehow get it on a tool that would be more of a keepsake?

I’m really shooting for something that’s more day to day useful instead of simply a display piece. But anything is going to be better that the bracelet sitting in the box at my house for years.

Could be placed into a belt buckle possibly.

Well, I guess that info would matter. I apologize for not thinking to include that. She was an epic QVC and HSN shopper and i think it’s gold plate over bronze or something like that. Bellezza brand.
She was generous to a fault to all of us and usually picked her own stuff out and it was always minimal. She had long since separated and locked her good jewelry up, prepared for each member of the family with background/historical info about each piece she was designating for us. She had a lot of health issues and had slowed down so she rarely got dressed up anymore.
So not the finest metal. He won’t care about that at all.

Take him on a trip, father and son, if he’s healthy enough for it. Quality time with his son after losing his wife would probably mean the world to him

the reason i asked is that if it had been either silver or gold, a portion of it could have been melted down by either a jeweler or metalsmith and used as an inlay on an item such as a coffee spoon, a fob for a key ring, or as another person suggested, a belt buckle...some sort of practical item...but if it's plated, i don't think it would work...

Good point and honestly my mind hadn’t gotten that far yet.

Thank you for the advice. We already have this kind of thing in the works.

i looked up bellezza...it looks like most of their stuff is 100% bronze...you could likely find a jeweler or metalsmith who would be able to work with that...sorry i don't have anyone to recommend...

Whatever you choose to do with it, set aside a few links for the future. At some point, he may choose to walk with a cane (it happens to the best of us).
At that point you could incorporate those links into a handle of a cane so they could walk together again.

Yes but she bought the silver tone one for herself. It was the only present he didn’t know about and it tore him up when we opened it because he said she always went cheap on herself and wouldn’t listen to him.

Axe with the family name on the handle or handmade knife. My dad thought it was awesome. Edited because I didn’t read the full thread before posting. I second a trip. I was going to take my parents out west to the Tetons and Yellowstone before my dad passed. I wish I had been able to get it done. I dont have a solid idea for the bracelet

The links are shaped like the first picture posted in 2 tone.
Thank you to all who are thinking, have replied, will reply, or have just read and sympathized. It’s been a tough time.
