In an alternate world where George didn’t exist, everyone decent in Bedford Falls was struggling and had it worse. Seems like Potter and Nick were the only one doing great. Nick was an “ok guy” in George’s world because he didn’t have any power. However, in the alternate works where he was the owner of the bar, he was an arse hole. He got mad at George for calling Nick by his name, almost punched Clarence with is “left convincer” for not knowing how to order a drink, and sprayed water in old man Gower’s face when he didn’t need to.

You don't want two pixies trying to give a joint atmosphere.

They were warned.

As the owner of Nicks he seemed like a guy who would be NY Yankees fan.

He shouldn't have made fun of Clarence.

Maybe Nick was a nice guy in George's world because of Mr. Martini. And Mr. Martini was a nice guy in George's world because of George. It's the whole ripple effect.

Ordering a flaming rum punch will do that.

I’m going to assume that everyone knows who Sheldon “Nick” Leonard was and why they named the Big Bang Theory characters after him.

He also had a career as a tough guy gangster actor.

He's an icon in the TV industry as a producer. He is Chuck Lorre's idol and that's why the BBT characters are named after him. Pretty cool.

It’s always been one of my film hot takes that Nick got absolutely screwed over by George Bailey’s existence. In the original timeline he’s just a bartender in another’s employ; in the George-less timeline he’s the owner of his own bar (which is thriving and popping way more than Martini’s ever was, by the way).

Yeah, maybe he’s not as nice, but you have to remember that he’s working in Pottersville now, not Bedford Falls. Pottersville was basically the upstate New York version of Las Vegas at that point. I’ve met more than one late-night French Quarter bartender in my life and part of the job is sussing out the crazies and giving them the heave-ho when it’s clear things aren’t going to get any better with them. Nick was probably at the tail-end of a long-arse, freezing cold Christmas Eve shift, dealing with crazies all night and then Clarence walks in wearing his PJs and ordering nonsense drinks.

Yeah, out the door or through the window, I’d say too.
