The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved the first-ever GLP-1 pill for obesity from Wegovy maker Novo Nordisk
, a landmark decision that health experts say could open up treatment access to more patients.
Novo Nordisk said it expects to launch the pill in early 2026. The Danish drugmaker said the starting dose of 1.5 milligrams will be available starting in early January in pharmacies and via select telehealth providers for $149 per month.
Novo Nordisk did not say how much higher doses of the drug would cost, but said additional information on coverage and savings options for eligible patients will be available at that time as well.

Never been a greater time in American history to be a fat arse

It’s here. It is finally here. The magic weight loss pill

I know it’s popular on the board, I was one of them, to make fun of fatties and accuse GLP1 users as cheating, but the overall health of this country is improving and the major attribute to that is the use of these drugs. It ultimately should help stabilize insurance process.

You think it will be the obese that will be the #1 consumer?
But I bet it’s gonna be the slightly pudgy woman and men with dad bods are going to be the majority of people who take this pill and the shot.

If I can walk around and not see 1000 obese people it will be worth it even if it does take 15 years off their life.

IDK if that is true or not.
BUT there is growing awareness of the crap junk in our so-called food supply.
Folks are starting to wise up to the harmful effects of the ultra-processed foods.
Seed oils like soy, canola, corn...are being scrutinized and many are starting to avoid them like the plague. The way that stuff is made is absolutely disgusting. Lots of additives, emulsifiers...even deodorants are added because of the rancid smell of them.
Same thing with the tons of sugar and HFC that is added into many foods, sodas, energy drinks, sports drinks.
Throw in many additives such as maltodextrin. One of the worst additives in the food supply.
There is some emerging evidence that extra virgin olive oil has GLP-1 properties.
Not saying that is the case but it is an interesting hypothesis.

Yep, probably so.
I have cleaned up my diet and I am feeling great and losing those extra pounds.

Can someone explain to me, a person who is not a fat arse, why this is news when ozempic exists? Why isn’t ozempic considered an obesity pill?

If overall health includes mental health...yeah this country is in the dumps.
Also take into account substance abuse issues

Part of the reason people’s mental health is so bad, even if they’re on this shite they still eat like shite and don’t push themselves physically.
