Not many can rival the cheap meal that can get you by like raman noodles and fried bologna sandwiches.

How cheap are you looking? I mean there is Raman noodle cheap, or hamburger helper cheap, or peanut butter and jelly cheap!

Instead of cooking "cheap" I try to find stuff on sale.

One good thing you can do is buy a whole chicken when its on sale. You can eat a variety of meals off of it, and then you can make a soup broth with limited extra expense.

My favorite meal:

Can of Campbell's tomato soup (prepared with milk instead of water)

As many American cheese & mayonaisse on white bread sandwiches as you can handle

Migas-normally a breakfast food but I like it all the time. You'll need some diced onion, sliced peppers(jalapeno, anaheim, poblano), 3-4 corn tortillas cut into strips, 2 eggs(adjust to your hunger), salt, pepper, cheese if you want.

Sweat the onion and pepper in a little oil, once soft add tortilla strips, cook in oil until crisp, crack eggs into pan and mix everything together, cook until your desired egg doneness, season with salt and pepper. Add cheese if you'd like, serve with flour tortillas and salsa. Or not, whatever, it's up to you.

Also, go to the grocery store and buy the cheapest cuts of beef they have, the more bones, fat, ect the better. Buy some cheap veggies(cabbage, potato, carrot, onion, garlic). Toss all the meat into a pot and cover with water, add galic cloves, salt and pepper. Let that shite cook on low for hours, add your chopped veggies to pot, adjust your seasoning, cook until vegetables are done.

Tacos are easy, pretty cheap to make too. Pot of beans with onion, garlic, bacon. It's pretty easy to cook cheap and it still taste good, you just have to look around and get creative.

As my coworkers go out for lunch everyday, I am eating leftovers or PBJs!!! Considering the price of food in the San Fran financial district, I reckon I save about $150 a month!!

Nice addition to my arsenal. Thanks, offshoreangler. I'll be sure to try that this week.

I usually (eat out)/(take home) about 6-10 meals a week, I guess. I could save some serious cash eating more pbj,hbhelper,chicken,tuna,tacos,etc...

I'm just looking for some stuff I may have not thought of or something that I never thought was good(that I haven't eaten) but someone else can enlighten me.

Even if that was McDonald's you'll save 30-50 bucks a weak, so 120-200 a month. You'll be shocked at how much cheaper it is to eat at home.

If you have a grill you could really bang out some great stuff for cheap too.

Cheap cuts of meat marinated over night and grilled med rare-medium depending on the cut/animal/your taste makes for great meals and leftover potential.

I usually buy a couple of chickens and cook them on the pit over low coals, use the meat in a chicken salad, tons of flavor. Light mayo, salt, pepper, squeeze of lime juice, avocado, some cliantro. Or I'll make a grilled corn salsa and add that to the chicken salad.

I know! Sucks because half the time it's some shite like izzos, brewbachers, sushi, chinese, etc.
