As a season ticket holder (who actually attends almost every home game) of LSU basketball, watching Tech beat Puke just now is a good reminder that when they humiliated us earlier this month it wasn't because they just had a "great night", but the difference between the elite teams and a team who is playing to host a first round NIT game.

Maybe the McMen aren’t so bad after all. Also have to think we shot horribly and they shot amazing in the game they beat us as well to skew the score

So you are saying that the one team LSU lost to this year, after beating Duke (number 3 in the country), somehow proves that LSU is not a good team?

Explain how this makes any sense?

Good basketball teams shoot well and score. Good teams also play defense and cause their opponents to not shoot well and score less points.

Tech humiliated us. How does this make LSU basketball "not so bad after all"?

It’s hard to follow the point you are making. But you are saying Texas tech is clearly better than we are then I agree.

This actually happened at the start and they got off to a really big lead if I recall correctly

He is trying to say that Tech beating Duke makes LSU look bad. Yeah, I am guessing he had a few drinks tonight.

Zero drinks. And definitely not my point. CMM's excuse was that Tech won because they had a great night and we lost because we had a bad night. The fact is that when we finally played a good non-conference game, we got destroyed.

I was at SKC to watch the win over SMU. Definitely no comparison. When you only schedule the worst of the 365 D1 teams for non-conference, it will come as no surprise when we have another awful year in the SEC and end up hosting a one-and-done NIT game.

They shot 46.7%, why are you people acting like they broke some record for FG% against us?

Yes. We played much better against SMU.

Would you have felt better about LSU if Tech lost to Duke?

How do you not understand what he’s saying? He’s saying it wasn’t some lucky shooting night for them and unlucky night for us. He’s saying they’re just a lot better than us. Beating Duke reinforces that position.

A) Who is saying Trch isn’t better than LSU right now?
B) How does Tech being better make us an NIT team?
C) How is Tech beating Duke not in LSU's favor? Vs Tech losing to Duke?

Exactly. Not sure how this is a hard concept to understand.

However, I'm sure that wrapping up our non-conference with SLU (KenPom 278), Prairieview (KenPom 309) and Southern Miss (KenPom 191) will be great confidence boosters before a brutal SEC schedule starting January 3.

People have said and you’ve hinted at in this very thread that the blowout vs Tech was mostly due to a lucky shooting night. He’s saying them beating Duke proves it wasn’t, that they’re multiple levels better than us.

He’s trying to spin what you’re saying. He’s never going to address points head on because it’s never about LSU or objectively discussing the team, it’s always about protecting the coach.

Since LSU lost to Texas Tech, Texas Tech beating Duke makes LSU look even worse than if Texas Tech would have lost to Duke.

I get that. I read his CMM nonsense frequently. The funny thing is that I support CMM and like him personally. He has always been extremely nice to me and my family as I know he is to so many LSU basketball fans who support the program. The excuses after a blowout loss to the ONLY good non-conference game we play this season (my point was that SMU is not anywhere close to the level of Tech) that Tech got lucky and there are just some nights where things don't go your way is inexcusable. The non-conference schedule he chooses is a joke and seems to only delay the inevitable arse kicking we get every season once SEC play starts.

The conference is not as good as it was last season, and I hope I'm wrong, but I see us finishing in the bottom of the league again this year even after a solid NIL commitment that CMM asked for.

I doubt anyone doesn't realize TT is bettrr than LSU but they did shoot much better in the game than LSU which contributed to the blowout.

FG%
LSU YTD 51.8% against TTU 33.3%
TTU YTD 46.2% against LSU 46.7%

3PT%
LSU YTD 33.5% against TTU 16.7%
TTU YTD 37.6% against LSU 48.1%

So both things can be true. TT can be the better team and LSU had a subpar shooting night.

And that’s the bottom line because 1 meaningful non conf game doesn’t tell you much. The problem with the ultra weak schedule is if you’re in a situation where you’re fighting for that last bid chances are you’ll be passed over. The SEC has about 5 teams who are completely out of our reach then 2 more definitely better than us so if we’re as good as a lot of people think we’ll be fighting for one of the final 3 spots. The weak schedule gives away all your leverage in that scenario because you got blown out vs Texas Tech.
