Baseball recruit question- Jordin Griffin

I randomly came across a class of 2027 Louisiana HS baseball recruiting ranking and saw Griffin was ranked 5th in the state.
Obviously that’s still very high level, but has he not developed into one of the best players in the country? I see he’s still quite small, which isn’t a dealbreaker of course, but maybe he didn’t hit a growth spurt?
It’s interesting because he has a ton of endorsement deals but maybe has fallen off a little as a prospect? Just curious about feedback on him.

Baseball America has him as the 66th best HS player in the 2027 draft class. That would make him a top 4-5 rounder on just rankings probably. So he's still considered a big time talent.
Him being ranked 5th in the state by one of the recruiting sites (PBR or PG) speaks more to the talent level in the state for 2027 than any flaws the kid may have. He's getting low level football offers now, which speaks to the type of athleticism that will keep his draft ranking elevated even if his tools are a little slower to come around.
And as you mentioned, if he hits a growth spurt, all bets are off. That would change his football recruiting profile and also boost his draft stock for baseball.

This was the Prep La Baseball Instagram page and Griffin is actually 4th, my mistake. Behind Littleton, Luker, and Romero. Downs and Lee after him. Does look like a loaded class if the top 6 are committed to LSU.

He may be a better football prospect now
Half joking
He’s small, ++speed, hit-first

Especially now with Jay recruiting the way he is, the strength of the in state class will be measured by the number of players committed to LSU. Only 1 for 2026, down year. 6 or 7 for 2027, bumper crop.

How are we feeling on him, draft risk wise?

Still too early, but back half of the top 100 and being in state makes me feel better.

so unfortunately....overall rankings in PBR and PG actually has a lot to do with how much you play their tournaments. Example is jordin is top 10 nationally in PG, only #4 in state on PBR, yet top 100 in baseball america
lawton littleton is not even ranked in PG, yet is #1 in the state for PBR.
now i do think pbr and baseball america do a better job overall with rankings usually than PG but its pretty close.
with Jordin specifically, he has all the tools, not huge but has ++ bat speed, speed on the bases and a pretty good arm. strong AF too. so it a little bit of a ding on him because of height. thats why you see him ranked like that
littleton....needs to add 25-35 lbs to reach full potential. he is ranked like he is because of the potential that is there.
PBR also ways HS baseball more heavily than PG. Jordin has done great against better competition like he will see in college but has struggled last year at times at Barbe. He is in a great place mentally though and has matured a ton...I expect him to have a monster year. Thing with both of them, but especially Jordin....is he is the hardest working kid that we will sign. Up every morning at 5am to get his lift in. 2 hours of hitting after football practice. hitting 5 days a week during football season etc.
dude has crazy crazy workethic

All the talent in the world, attitude needs work.

He's going to blow up draft boards before it's all said and done. The tools are there, he's challenged himself against great competition, and he works his tail off with intention. I'm not as worried about his "size" as some, as he's built very well and very twitchy. I really don't know much about his defense, admittedly.
Even if/when he blows up draft boards, I still think he's a guy that could benefit from getting some polish/maturity in a college program like LSU.
The 27 crop has some absolute dudes, even in Louisiana.

no it doesnt, you have zero clue. have you ever spoken to him ever? one of the best kids personally you will ever meet. He doesnt get in trouble, makes great grades, leader on the team but mainly just quite kid who works his arse off every day
you will never ever here of him getting in trouble
but let me guess, you didnt like how he walked back to the dugout after a strikeout or how he had his head down after a walk.
clueless

unfortunately this is more than likely the problem which is stupid because JG is an awesome kid. I dont mean awesome as in baseball....as a human.
Both him and littleton are great kids.

He reminds me of Xavier Paul. But prob not quite as toolsy due to the power. Xavier was a 4th rd pick. Griffin is just so small for a top prospect. Not sure how high he could go out of HS.
With a great college career like say Enrique bradfield, he could get paid more after showing what he can do on a bigger stage.
