Can Lane step in and appoint an interim for the bowl game?

How does this work? I don’t expect this to actually happen but if he wanted to do that, could he? Or is that solely up to Verge? I love pettiness and would love to see it happen.

Baker would be the simplest solution

I agree. None of us know what has happened behind closed doors but Frank Wilson has no reason to be dedicated to this team going to Houston Bowl

Someone with a vested interest needs to handle this

It seems like we could just send Frank Wilson down the road and let Kiffin “coach” the bowl. Let Kiffin coach offense and Baker coach defense and play ball.

No. Just hell no.

You don’t want Kiffin having anything to do with a meaningless bowl with a gutted roster other than observing from the booth. He’s not going to tarnish his aura by coaching a team that’s not his to a loss in a meaningless bowl game. Kiffin will make his debut coaching the 2026 opener with Clemson in Tiger Stadium.

This bowl game doesn’t mean shite. Let the equipment manager coach it for all that it matters.

I hear you and I think people understand that the bowl game doesn’t mean shite, but he IS our coach. I don’t think losing this Texas bowl would tarnish his reputation. Especially if he does the job next season and so on that we all think he will do.

It just seems like an easy way to solve all this coach for the bowl game nonsense. With that being said, I understand why he wouldn’t.

The simplest solution is just letting Frank coach the meaningless bowl game.

Let’s not prove everyone right with the “what if the shoe were on the other foot and LSU’s coach was leaving for Ole Miss before post season” stuff

He’ll do fine and he’s not a danger to our players transferring.

Baker or Kiffin should coach the bowl game. Wilson should not be allowed in the facility ASAP.

so you want Kiffin to coach using Sloan's offense? Because that's what the players know.

Kiffin can't install an entirely new offensive scheme now.

Having Kiffin coach the offense in the bowl game is absolutely absurd.

so what....pay him and set him down on the bench or put him in the press box, or better yet, give him the day off. Nothing in his contract can stipulate that LSU is required to let him coach. All they are required to do is pay the man his contract salary. No one wants FW on the LSU sideline, and I doubt seriously if he wants to be on the LSU sideline. Come on LK, intervene, and give Baker the HC reigns for the game.

Think about it……

Lane wants to coach OM in bowl game…
He BEGGED OM to let him coach in bowl game.

How would it look if he suddenly told his current HC to walk…. because he took another job ??

He would be Biggest Hypocrite on face of earth.

Now… maybe Lane doesn’t mind being a hypocrite ???

But he would be one !!
