This was forced upon them by biden/obama
Gotta build some EVs to offset the mpg of ICE trucks/SUVs

It looked good on paper but was stupid AF when it came down to reality

corporate malfeasance at the highest levels of these auto manufacturers.
these CEOs knew damn good and well the numbers didn't remotely work and were scared shitless of the Biden Cartel so they swallowed their bile and sang the praises of Our Lord and Savior, EV and cost their stockholders billions.

Good, they were overcharging on ICE to make up for losses on EVs.
We'll see if prices come down in the next year.

Yet another example of why the govt attempting to pick winners never works.
I'm curious if people who own them will still be able to get them serviced over the coming years/decades.

A lot of people underestimate just how much damage the Brandon and O'Shithead regimes did to the auto industry.
Most of the quality control issues and out of control prices we're seeing today stem from companies scrambling to reinvent the wheel to adhere to EV and emissions mandates.
Forcing companies to stray away from their core competencies never ends well.

They're switching the Lightning from BEV to EREV. It's not going away.

Partially. But don't discount how hard wall street was pushing them as they all salivated over Tesla market cap. They didn't want to invest in old tech and were holding investment hostage over it.

why dont you just say the EV was fricking stupid so they're moving back to the old hybrid model that worked for decades for toyota instead of throwing out terms that no one on this board knows.

Because it's not a hybrid. Its an extended range EV. There's a difference.
And yes the BEV F150 was a stupid idea and only had a limited fleet use case.

If the ICE can propel the vehicle it's a Hybrid.
If the ICE exists only to supply power via a gen set to power the electric motors its an extended range EV.
This isn't that hard. And i have one of those Toyota hybrids sitting in my garage so i'm pretty familiar with it.

Biden made american autos great again
