I’d rather not watch another doc telling me how I as a white man are the problem and cause of all the problems of society

I’d rather beat off with sandpaper on my hands and hot sauce as lubricant than watch another Katrina doc.

How prophetic was it to hear we'd be getting more like Katrina, and even stronger, right?

Oh, except that never happened. 20 years and the number / strength of hurricanes to make landfall here in the USA has dipped, stayed steady, peaked for one year *(2020) and then declined to just 1, in 2023.

Year Hurricanes Made Landfall Highest Category at Landfall

2000 8 Category 3 (Hurricane Gordon)
2001 1 Category 1 (Hurricane Erin)
2002 2 Category 1 (Hurricane Isodore)
2003 4 Category 2 (Hurricane Fabian)
2004 9 Category 3 (Hurricane Ivan)
2005 8 Category 5 (Hurricane Katrina)
2006 2 Category 1 (Hurricane Ernesto)
2007 4 Category 2 (Hurricane Felix)
2008 5 Category 2 (Hurricane Ike)
2009 2 Category 2 (Hurricane Bill)
2010 1 Category 1 (Hurricane Alex)
2011 3 Category 3 (Hurricane Irene)
2012 1 Category 1 (Hurricane Sandy)
2013 1 Category 1 (Hurricane Ingrid)
2014 1 Category 1 (Hurricane Arthur)
2015 2 Category 2 (Hurricane Joaquin)
2016 2 Category 3 (Hurricane Matthew)
2017 6 Category 4 (Hurricane Harvey)
2018 3 Category 4 (Hurricane Michael)
2019 6 Category 5 (Hurricane Dorian)
2020 12 Category 5 (Hurricane Laura)
2021 7 Category 4 (Hurricane Ida)
2022 3 Category 4 (Hurricane Ian)
2023 1 Category 1 (Hurricane Lee)

Key Points
The most active year was 2020, with 12 hurricanes making landfall, including Hurricane Laura, which reached Category 5 status.

Significant landfalls occurred during 2017, with hurricanes like Harvey and Irma, both of which reached Category 4.

In 2023, only one hurricane made landfall as a Category 1 storm.

* 2020 is curious as that was when everything globally was shut down for many months, with industry, car travel, flights, all the things we're told contribute to the so called climate crisis
yet we saw a spike in activity. Weather folks care to comment on that?

They started out by criticizing Nagin and his chief of staff but then let her place the blame on the federal government during later commentary. They did a hurricane simulation called Hurricane Pam that foresaw the destruction that could be caused by even a cat. 3. However, no one, especially city officials took it seriously. Nagin and staff seemed to have zero planning in place for a hurricane, which is crazy for a city below sea level. Bush and FEMA didn't look great either. Bush flying overhead in AF 1 was kind of funny though. Who thought that was going to be a good look? The Army Corp of Engineers building faulty levees. I lived in Jackson, MS at the time and our poor state and redneck governor absolutely outpaced LA in terms of recovery response. I think Bush, FEMA, and the Army Corp of Engineers share some blame but they don't live in NOLA whose politicians and citizens expected everything to be done for them.

I won't be watching that. Reason is, every single one of these Docs on Katrina always seems to take the entire situation and want to sell it as a "RACIAL" angle and how this was all about exterminating the black man.

No mention of the insane destruction that took place along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, who took a direct hit with a 24' storm surge. Maybe a mention before they go back to racial hate.

No mention of Louisiana and NOLA politicians incompetence in the face of this tragedy. How they acted, or should I say, didn't act, in response to the storm. Typically no mention of lawlessness, the fact that the people that stayed behind in NOLA were up to no good, looking for an opportunity to loot businesses blind.

They only focus on race and how much the government sucks. I've had enough of the grievance bullshite to last me 10 lifetimes.

Yeah, did show a political bias in last couple of segments for sure. And to OP, a shame they didn’t expand the story to the Gulf coast as well
