I have two sons age 20 and 23 that love playing guitar and singing.

They’ve done a recent gig at a local music venue so they have a lot of the equipment to set up gigs and have a decent set up at home in the garage.

Their jam is early 90’s alternative rock, like The Smiths, Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc.

What are some good gift ideas for Christmas? I don’t know a thing about music or playing? My idea is to find them something that is helpful and/or unique. My budget would be a combined $700.

Thanks so much for any help!

I know it takes the surprise out of it to ask them what they need/want, but that's the best tactic... you don't know what they have, already, and we don't know what they need to make recommendations.

Effects pedals would be easy but you would need to ask them what they want

Tuners, strings, picks, cables are all good throw ins

Yeah. If they're already well-versed in playing and own a fair share of gear, you're probably going to disappoint with just choosing something in the wild. Ask them or give them a gift certificate to a music store like Sweetwater so they can buy what they want.

This, unless they drop a hint for something more specific..

Tickets and transportation to see one of their favorites bands might be a good gift.

Vocal effects box such as this you can create all sorts of vocal effects with this from simple reverb to crazy auto tuning stuff. It also corrects your pitch on the fly based on the sound coming out of your guitar or other instrument. You can also create loops with it.

Guitar repair and maintenance tools(Files, Allen wrenches, gauges, soldering gun, stuff like that) are also great to have.
Music Nomad and Stewmac have this stuff.

That's the safest option IMO as well unless they've specifically mentioned something they want. Things like pedals, picks, straps, etc can be such a personal thing.

Yeah, and they probably already have most of what they like. Since they already are performing.
