Here are estimates for Top 3 Spending on 2025 season:

1. Texas Longhorns (Texas NIL Collectives) – ~$40 M (estimated)
One of the highest reported team spend totals, including major deals around star players and multiple multi-million NIL packages.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes – ~$35 M+ (estimated)
Large collective giving premier players (especially wide receivers and other stars) significant NIL backing.
3. Texas Tech Red Raiders – ~$28 M (estimated)
Strong Big 12 spend tied to high paying deals, including massive guarantees for recruits/elite prospects.

Thought I read somewhere that we are closer to 30 million with revenue share plus NIL

I’m also just imagining what the Top 3 Spends will be for the 2026 season…

Now just waiting on the NIL money for fans / ticket holders; after all Death Valley environment is not created by itself which is the main reasons players want to come to LSU! Maybe Gordon can work out a deal !!

Oregon, tx, oh st easily spend more then us. Tx tech could if they wanted (see 5 star ot and dt they just singed, or 1mm on a fing softball pitcher)... double eagle baw on record saying he was given a list of 20 kids from football staff they wanted. He was shocked how quickly they signed almost every kid on the list. He could fund a 50mm/ yr nil by himself, for 30 years, and still have a few billion in the bank. If you want a sense of how absurd it can and will get.

Once private equity crap starts, cfp is over. It's gonna suck. Only thing that can save it is collective bargaining to get 1. Caps, 2. Tied to deals you sign, 3. Transfer limitations that you sit a year if you leave. Other then that.. off to the highest donors races. And this will only come from the conferences all agreeing to these new rules. Ncaa has no power and they are now yes Men bc they cant counter what Congress passed as law. Which is why they bend the knee on transfers being unlimited, etc. They cant afford to defends thousands of law suits. Its politics fault it happened, conferences are the only way back to sense of consistency going forward. And their each too scared to pitch that and lose players, talent interest.

at some point, every NIL contract has to be approved by NCAA as I understand it

gone are the days of just letting this thing go to a 100 million or whatever people can scrape together

NIL must be legit

the player has to prove he's bringing value

Um no. Yes it has to be submitted, for tax purposes ha. But everything is allowed. Troy aikman literally admitted i paid for a kid and he didn't say thank you, left after 1 yr. You think that player brought value to Troy aikman?? He'll nah. TX tech booster openly discussing how hes buying rosters for every sport ha. Those kids helping sell oil well parts, water transfer services, or exploration surveys... cmon

With the clearning house it will be much more difficult to spend NIL funds, it has to be at market terms and an OG in Ann Arbor doesn't have a very large realistic marketing value

Yeah, I thought the NCAA revenue sharing alone was going to be $20 million per school...at least to the big boy schools. That of course would not include sponsorship deals, booster money, etc. My GUESS is that the $25 million promised to Kiffin by LSU which he has mentioned publicly does NOT include the NCAA revenue sharing of $20 million. I believe it has also been broken down generally that say MBB gets X amount, WBB gets Y amount, football gets Z amount, bsseball gets some of course, etc. So a good estimate of total football money to pay players at LSU might be around $35 to $40 million.

I’m not sure many understand this….Its one of the reasons Kiffin came to LSU.

NIL will have to go through the clearinghouse sometime in the near future. I know most posters on here are not a fan of Moscona, but he posted a video recently explaining the details of how the NIL will be dealt with in the near future. He also had someone from LSU explaining how the athletic department prepared for this change.

It's up to 40 million currently, when you factor in AD net revenue.

The goal is to have 25 mil NIL +14 Mil Rev Share. On top of that, NIL is changing where it is brand centric and more legitimate ad deals, not we have a big donor and are going to write you a blank check. I think the hope is that with some of this stuff, LSU has already been working to get these deals and that some of those "Big Donor Schools" will drop off dramatically when a billionaire can no longer just pay a guy a million to come sit the bench as a freshman and add no value to the team.
