LSU miraculously going from like #8 to the top 2 in the final weekend and making the bcs championship game kept him at LSU.

there was an article with interviews with skip and others that went over this, cant find it right now. Miles did turn michigan down in 2011 quitely though

so in 2007 story was Martin, the UM AD, called miles agent and asked to speak with him. Agent talked to miles and miles talked to Skip and they asked michigan to wait until after the SEC CG

well in the mean time michigan put together the offer they were going to give miles. But skip had a week and was already working miles. Well word got to the Carr camp....who hated miles because he slept with Gary Moellers wife, causing the initial meltdown that got Carr hired in the first place.

Anyways, although Carr said he wasnt picking his successor...he wanted no part of miles as they hated each other. Well his camp got word of the offer and slipped it to Desmond who gave it to Herby.

well after it broke, Skip put an offer on the table and said...sign it or you dont coach. 1 day offer good up until game time, period

miles agent spoke to Martin very early that morning and they had agreed to wait until after the game to actually speak to Miles. Well Martin went on his boat for the rest of the day thinking he would secure miles after the game. Well miles kept trying to get ahold of him after skip put the offer and timetable in front of him......no anwser. Eventually miles had to pull his name out by noon and informed michigan and local UM reporters started getting word around then.

Martin returns from his yacht and its a shite storm and at like 10pm that night had to give a statement that he had spoken to Miles agent but Les had informed him he was no longer a candidate


in the end....michigan arrogance thinking they could always take a Michigan man if they wanted at anytime and their old school ways fricked them. Along with the Carr camp.


in the end it worked out for us for a long time before the fall off at end of 2015 and 2016. didnt work very well for them though

i think this was more internal pressure from LSU brass to not allow Woody to hire jimbo, at least at time of BK hire.

First time, i think, Jimbo was asking for too much and Alleva was pissy AF after Tom Herman fricked him after having agreement in place before texas fired strong to grab Herman first. Worked out for the best for us for sure.

Lincoln was far AF down the path. last min decided USC was the place and within 24-30 hours woody had BK in place.
