SG from Sulphur. Also, how does he compare with Martin Zeno at this stage?

LSU should definitely be recruiting this guy. Has a super smooth stroke, good court presence and plenty of grit. Better outside shooter than Zeno IMHO.

LSU is recruiting him but I think some things will need to happen for him to get an offer.

We will have 5 or 6 slots depending on what happens this spring, and you have to believe at least two will go to PF/C (looks very good with Jalen Courtney from Provine). So that leaves you with let's say 3 spots as I'm all but certain they will sign a big in the current class. Needless to say Pressey and Galloway have them if they want them. Those are the big dogs in the back court. I'd also imagine Derenbecker would all but be a lock. If one does free up due one of the aforementioned going elsewhere, I think you see the staff favor Williams over Armelin due to his ability to play different spots on the floor and his proximity to campus.

Check out the list of 2010 guys with offers from LSU as we speak....

Point Guard
Phil Pressey Dallas (TX)

Shooting guard
Langston Galloway Baton Rouge (LA)
Patrick Swilling New Orleans (LA)
Brian Williams Baton Rouge (LA)

Small forward
Harrison Barnes Ames (IA)
Cameron Clark Sherman (TX)
Matt Derenbecker Metairie (LA)
Roscoe Smith Baltimore (MD)
Jelan Kendrick Atlanta (GA)

Power forward
Brian Vogler Columbus (GA)
Evan Washington DeSoto (TX)
Jalen Courtney Jackson (MS)

Center
Jackson Jeffcoat Plano (TX)
Tobi Oyedeji Bellaire (TX)

Is he kin to the defensive lineman we signed in 2000 that decided to try to be a rapper instead of play football?

I think these two are also football recruits, and I know the Jeffcoat kid is.

Chip is not as good of a player as Martin Zeno at this stage. Biggest difference I see is Chip needs to improve on defensive end. Also tends to get an attitude if he thinks he's not getting enough touches. If Zeno wasn't getting his touches he made them by going to the boards. Chip has a very quick step and can definitely finish at the basket. Still not convinced he is SEC caliber player.

We played Zeno his senior year in highschool. The guy didn't miss until like the third quarter. Tasmin Mitchell was guarding him from the second quarter until the end. it was some of the best shooting I ever witnessed in a high school basketball game. It seemed like he was shooting from three feet beyond the three point line.

The Sulfur coach did admit at the end of the game it was the his best shooting performance that he could remember in a long time.

If LSU offers this kid and he signs, he will be no better then Alex Farrer. He is a great athlete with good leaping ability, but not and SEC player.

We have 5 scholarships being freed up after this season (M Thornton, Q Thornton, Temple, Johnson, Martin). We have 2 of those filled (Dotson, Ludwig) which puts us at 3 left over.

2 will free up next season (Mitchell, Farrer) which puts it at 5. 6 was a miscount on my part. If they sign another guy in '09, the number will be 4.
