One cannot stress enough how awesome things are going for LSU right now.

Baker turned down a pretty good G5 HC job to stay and coach defense . Dude took one look at this DL class and said "yep lets run it back".
If theres a place to bet on an LSU natty within 4 years, Id take it right now.
And offense is a given. Lane hasnt had a single bad offense at any stop period.
He's going all the way. You dont leave OM during a playoff run for anything but a dynasty.

The signing day plus his coaching hires was a great combo.
But me? The national title talk is off the table for me. Just cautiously optimistic is more enjoyable than the expectations placed on a guy. Look. Thats the goal, I get it.
. It just was something we never talked about for Nick, Les and Ed. Talking about it wasn’t really a thing, either. But now we just toss it around like every other team.
OSU
Uga
Texas
Oregon
All their fans say, “our guy wins three easy…..well that’s 12 championships right there.”
There are too many variables now.

The playoffs are starting this month, and LSU is sitting at home w a 7-5 record.
I’d say things are not optimal. But appears help is on the way.
We’ll see.

LSU won the 2025 coaching carousel by an absolute mile. Can’t wait for to see how the portal class fills in. Going to be a lot of fun.

Tigers are sitting at home watching 12 other teams play for a NC. I am excited for what to come, but things could be better right now.

Lane has done extremely well to start in both recruiting and in hiring the staff.

Oregon? They have a good team, and they have been top 10ish for the last 15 years, but call me when they win one. It’s not going to be this year.

We have to wait and see how the portal works out before we can call anything with our offense a given. He’s a great offensive mind but Lane can’t just materialize the players we need.

Things are trending upward; but let’s see the product on the field before crowning anyone king.

We need to get a natty within 3 years to keep Lane 8 to 10 yrs - 2 or 3 SECC will help too. Otherwise, he will be at bama within 5 yrs. Lane will stay if he is winning big, sort of like Saban did at bama. Winning will do it..

I would also include the fact we haven’t signed a full class yet.
Although, the portal opens soon for some studs to come in. We need it because we need to fill some big holes.
Who is our QB? Who is our WR1? And need a solid OL.

I am behind LK , well most of the way. All good decisions except I am very skeptical on the Oline hire, and that is probably the most important position coach that needs a serious upgrade. It appears on paper that we hired experienced mediocrity . I was hoping for much better. We'll see how it pans out, but without an efficient Oline, the best OC's in the world look mediocre to bad.

Looking at what LK has done on offense cant be denied. Last two years on offense he was first in passing and 5th in rushing. BB defense will be incredible playing with a lead. The d line coach was an absolute home run. The D line class is amazing. I don't see how big things aren't on the horizon

Have you paid attention to the basketball program? They're not

I could revive almost this exact same post after every new head coach LSU hire lol. LSU fans are always either too overly optimistic or too overly pessimistic.
We haven’t won anything yet. Yes, some dominoes are falling in our favor, but the program has been in a ditch for the last few years and it I fear it will take more than a single hire or a year to revive it.
All that said, there’s no where to fit but up, so we should be significantly better next year.

That’s what I am saying.
Fanbases future-claim titles like Alabama/Auburn retroclaim titles.
Keep the title expectations realistic. And the realism is, no one knows.
