Notre Dame should join the Big Ten and be done with all the drama

Who cares about Notre Dame anymore. Their last national title was like 37 years ago. They can have good teams there. They need to be in a conference.

I’m not sure the big ten would take them.

They would take them in half a second

it’s not all about football. That’s a big part of it, but membership in the big ten is just as much about academic research and institutional sharing. They’ve engaged in that in the past, and it’s probably not the hurdle it was in the past, but I’m not sure the league would trust that Notre Dame would take the blood brother oath.

The big ten would absolutely take them and wouldn’t think twice about it. Money money money

They’re already sort of tied to the ACC

Big 10 folks sure love the scent of their own farts

Well the big ten doesn’t associate itself with anyone. Member is a member for life. Nobody has ever left the conference post the initial stages when Michigan had a hiatus over rules
Chicago disbanded Football and de-emphasized sports in the 40s and left athletically, but remained in the research consortium.
Notre Dame has repeatedly shown they’re self serving and that doesn’t play well in conferences that are committed to equal revenue sharing.

B1G should add 10 teams and close the doors at 28. SEC should do the same. Each conference should have 4 divisions of 7
Play 12 games. 6 division. 1 from the other 3 divisions. 1 protected rival. 2 non conference games from other league. Start labor day weekend with some good B1G SEC matchups. Each team gets 1 bye week. End reg season Thanksgiving weekend.
Playoffs are all division champs plus 6 wildcards. So 10 per conference. 6 byes. The 4 bottom play at the higher seed for round 1 first week in Dec. 2nd week of December play the 2nd round at home fields. 3rd week play the top 4 at Indy and Vegas bowls. NY Day top 2 Rose Bowl. National Championship 2 weeks later on a Saturday night.
B1G West
USC Oregon Washington UCLA Utah Stanford ASU
B1G North
Michigan Michigan State Wisconsin Minnesota Nebraska Iowa Colorado
B1G South
Ohio State Penn St Indiana Purdue Northwestern Illinois
B1G East
Notre Dame Miami Florida State Maryland Virginia GA Tech Rutgers

American would be their best option. They would dominate most of the league and still get Navy

3 true road games, 2 neutral site games
They play Navy in Foxborough and play Wisconsin in Green Bay
