LSU crushes Ole Miss and Archie Manning, 61-17, on national TV, which was a very rare platform at the time. Thanks to Bert Jones, Tommy Casanova, Craig Burns, Louis Cascio, Mike Anderson, Chris Dantin, Art Cantrell, Andy Hamilton, Richard Picou, Ken Kavanaugh, John Sage, Al Coffee, Ronnie Estay, Jimmy Ledoux, and many others. What a wild night in "DEAF VALLEY"! LSU secured an an Orange Bowl invitation, and a song was written about the game, which is still available on YouTube, "Archie Who?" The field paint in Tiger Stadium that night was like art work.

I was at that game. Dad and I walked on the field to his car afterwards. What a memory I’ll never forget.

Archie had a broken left arm with a 7# cast. His 1st game back trying to play with it. Probably not that hard to stop him.

I watched it with my girlfriend at her house. She and her family were huge Ole Miss fans. When Tommy Casanova intercepted Archie Manning and ran back two punts for touchdowns profanities filled the air. LSU gutter stomped Ole Miss that night and I loved every minute of it.

Archie wasn't on the field when LSU scored 61 points.
But he was on the field and healthy five weeks earlier when Southern Miss bitch slapped the Rebels 30-14.

I was there. Still remember the oranges being thrown on the field from the stands.

Arthur, Kent Carlin, and Bill Thomason came to LSU from Sulphur’s state championship team. I was a freshman that year as well all of us lettered multiple years except for Kent.
Have to say that the Tigers of 1969 were special!!

Also, Jack Doland was the defensive backs coach. He was the Sulphur head coach on the state championship team.
