If LSU thinks BAKER is the BEST option then show him the money!

LSU should be able to compete w mid-major programs on the $$$$$$$. It's probably more of a decision by Baker if he wants to be a head coach. He definitely had some stud players to work with in 2025 and over all the defense performed well. He still needs help w QB's that can run and the Tiger defense seemed to give up 1-2 chunk plays EVERY game! I guess you live with that outcome over the course of 50 plays w aggressive play calling. DEFENSE was always playing lights out mainly b/c the OFFENSE was so unproductive. Here's to hoping Baker returns.

Do you really pay a DC $3m+ to stay?
I don’t think so.

That’s all it is. It’s not a money thing. Either he wants to be a HC at Tulane/Memphis or he wants to wait for a better offer. Hard to imagine he would pass up HC at Tulane though

Eh, id offer Blake a $100 gift card from Bass Pro, 2 free massages, 4 free car washes/details, a free mystery gift from Best Buy and 2 scented Christmas candles or else he can take the Tulane job. It’s up to him.

It’s not always about the money.
Seems like we’ve traveled this road already from the other direction.

LSU offered 4.5 million

FWIW, Moscona said on the Locked On podcast that LSU was prepared to match, up to a point, to retain Baker. About $3 mil, or slightly north. Don't know what Tulane would offer him, but Sumrall made $3 mil, and had previous head coaching experience.
He also said Memphis actually offered Baker their HC job, and supposedly offered $1.8 mil.

Let him go! Because if not then LSU will be right back here next year hoping he doesn't leave. I'm happy for Baker; it sucks to possibly lose him but i understand it. So find a guy who wants to be a DC at LSU.

Baker is the highest paid DC in CFB at $2.5M / year. Tulane offered Sumrall $4M to stay at Tulane, he left for FLA and making $7.5M / year. I'm guessing Tulane has offered Baker $3.5M+ per year and he can coach at his alma mater.

Baker is gone, should be announced tomorrow, or Monday at the latest

Lets simplify it...
3 mil to DC
vs
3 mil to HC at your Alma mater

I hate to see him go, but Coach Baker has a golden opportunity to become the Head Coach at Tulane. As we all know, if he's successful there, it could open doors to even more head coaching opportunities down the line. And don't forget, he played linebacker at Tulane from 2000 to 2004.

Baker would be foolish not to take the job. Your reputation can quickly tank as a coordinator. Look at Joe Sloan. 15 months ago, Louisiana Tech would have been laughed at for thinking he would accept a head coaching offer. Today people would laugh at Louisiana Tech for offering him the job.
Tulane is well above its competitive peers in terms of resources. If Baker wants to be a head coach in the SEC, this is an extremely viable path.

He’s taking Tulane Job:
For one his Wife and family are from Louisiana
He’s an Alum & former football player
He’ll make more than the ridiculous amount of 3mill we would have to start at to pay him to stay
Was already highest paid Coor when he signed contract
I’m sure at Tulane he’s going to get at least 4yrs guaranteed time period
Has recruiting chops in La
Will be in charge, Head Hauncho
The past 3 Coaches have moved on to Power 4 jobs, if successful it won’t take him too long
If not he’ll be a DC at Major College Program soon after
MY BAD, Blake staying but he ain’t leaving Louisiana
