The U.S. Supreme Court revived on Thursday a redrawn Texas electoral map designed to add more Republicans to the U.S. House of Representatives, boosting President Donald Trump's quest for his party to keep control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections.

Thanks for the good news. Seemed likely after reading Judge Jerry Smith's dissent to the 2-1 lower court decision.

There should be no consideration in districting outside of geography, population numbers and existing administrative boundaries.

That is a good campaign/political argument - but it is not a legal one The Constitution is clear - the state legislature creates the districts anyway they want (except for intentionally drawing "racist" boundaries).

I know what the law is. The law is broken on this point. But there will never be another constitutional amendment—at least not for the foreseeable future—so we’re stuck with a broken system.
Current districting practice is the single biggest factor behind why Congress is so ineffective. Which in turn is the single biggest factor in the decline of every part of our political system in the past three decades.

Will SC review the California’s recent gerrymandering too?

Is there a legal challenge to it?
