Four years after leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind, Scarlett Johansson is headed to DC’s Gotham City.

Sources say the actress is in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II, the long-gestating sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2021 hit. If the deal comes together, it’d be a jolt for the project which aims to go before cameras next year. She will first film The Exorcist, to which she signed on last week, before moving on to Batman.

Johansson is one of the more bankable stars in the world, with her work in Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in the MCU just part of her hits, which also include July’s Jurassic World: Rebirth. She also recently released her directorial debut, the low-key drama Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb.

Is she, though? She's headlined a lot of flops, including the aforementioned Black Widow. Plus, she's way too old.

agree with the too old part, but she's literally the highest grossing actress in history with $15.4 billion. Safe to say she's more than bankable.

I agree that she keeps getting paid a lot, but she has left a trail of duds in her wake. Black Widow, Under the Skin, Lucy, Ghost in the Shell, Fly Me to the Moon, Rough Night, Marriage Story. The list goes on and I can't find a single one that was successful with her as the lead, at least not in the last decade and a half. I admit she does excellent fight choreography, but her only successful films seem to be super hero movies or movies that were carried by other actors, like Bill Murray.

They're talking about her being signed on because the wooden Zoe Kravitz won't be returning. I don't know if that means she'll be playing Catwoman, but I hope not.
