I have a good feeling he does.

I don’t want to have unreasonable expectations but I firmly believe this guy gets it better than most in how college football operates today. That’s literally half the battle now.
He certainly will have us competing in every game.

So much depends on how the roster is shaped with signings and transfers and who is leading the defense.

No way to say. We don’t even know who our QB will be next season

I say nay until we know who the DC will be. Too much uncertainty with a horror show of an OL and no QB at the moment.

Who’s the QB?

That’s the key

Yay.

Brian frigging Kelley got LSU to the SEC championship game in his first season after having a completely depleted roster.

I trust Kiffin's eye for talent, system, and coaching abilities way more than Kelley's, and Kiffin is starting from a better spot.

On top of all of that, if this year is any guide, the SEC is nowhere near as top heavy as it used to be, because the talent is so spread out. So, coaching is even more of an imperative than it's been in the past, and Lane is elite, at least on one side of the ball.

Or what? You gonna go personally fire him after 1 season? This is a little bit of a rebuild here. You should be happy with anything 8-4 or above, if we see improvement throughout the season.

Highly unlikely, IMO. 8-4 or 9-3 at best.

Year 2 we might contend.

I'd say a 2027 or 2028 timeline is more likely. I think we'll be more competitive next year than I would have thought with a lot of other coaches we could have hired considering our roster turnover. We're losing a lot so I think next year may be a little too soon for those expectations.

Clemson 1st game
Bama 3rd game
Texas 5th game

If you win 2 of 3, LSU will be in good shape. 3 of 3 and you’re #1 in the nation.

Lol we're a 5 loss football team in the bottom of the SEC, our offensive line needs a complete rebuild, our defense is going to lose a ton of quality guys, we don't have a QB and we need so much work at WR.

But your expectations aren't realistic for Lane to have us in the playoffs in literally year 1?

Lane is going to be great here if our retarded fanbase can actually give him some time to build

Not a chance. This is a mini rebuild that’s gonna take a year to lay the foundation. Anyone expecting playoffs is setting up themselves for disappointment.

Just hoping for a fun, entertaining team that can compete with anyone. 2-3 losses then the year after we can talk about the playoff.

Depends on how much the ex coaches try to sabotage the new staff

Anything better than 7-5 would be an improvement. Can’t put such lofty goals in his first year. The idiots out there calling for his head should be ignored.

He may or he may not but I’d be ok if we missed it year one as long as we show growth.
