I haven't watched it because I didn't like him in the other series which I loved. Is it worth a watch?

I really liked Asher in the original series. Sure, he was a POS who deserved his death but his character was one of the more interesting ones. I'm looking forward to this. I still need to do a chronological rewatch of the series first though.

I literally just finished episode 1 and was coming here to see if anyone else brought this up. I texted a friend while watching that you could tell it was written pre-Trump 2024. I enjoyed the first episode but I am worried.
ETA: the beginning of episode 2 she dodges the whip from the doctore after refusing his command then when Ashur tells her to take correction she stands there and the white doctore says "the moment has passed". Nonsense. Again, I'm worried.
ETA 2: She has not had any training at all yet is standing her ground against trained gladiators. Crixus, Gannicus, and Spartacus all got their asses beat with Gannicus asking for mercy in the arena leading him to the pit
If she doesn't die in the arena I will be done with this series.
ETA 3: She not only held off 2 gladiators attacking her she ripped off one of their dicks. then gets her arse destroyed by the doctore except she cut his cheek so she gets to live? I'm done.
