I haven't been following basketball that much so I don't really know if some one has aske this question already. Is anyone worried that TJ will bolt in about 4-5 yrs? He has won at Stanford and Nevada, then he left both schools. I know he just started but I really would like to see us have a coach stay and actually be good. Unlike Brady who stayed forever and we were avg w/ a few good years here and there.

He left Stanford because the weren't in any hurry to give him an extension on his contract from what I understand. If he proves himself here, I don't think extensions will be a problem.

Where would he go? If he is successful here, we can pay him as well as any non-basketball school.

He might one day choose a basketball school over us, but they are few and hard to come by. He would have to be extremely successful here to be considered for one of those jobs.

He is getting paid $1.2 a year here and its certainly easier to recruit here than at Stanford.

If he gets the program on the right track and where It can be....Even if he leaves, the work he has done will allow us to hire another good coach.

He won't go anywhere. Nevada was a small school, and Stanford would not pay him. We go throw money at him and it is easier to recruit here. He'll be around for some time I think

IMO, Coach TJ will stay as long as he gets paid well enough.

For example, if a school comes along and offers him 3.5mil per year and LSU doesn't come close, then yes, I would say he bolts. I would not worry about this for quite some time though.

I will say that Coach TJ is probably the only REAL men's basketball coach LSU ever had.

Brady's "few good years" were a result of great players choosing to play at LSU. Many of whom were from Louisiana, esp. the Baton Rouge area. Butch Pierre was an excellent recruiter, and Brady was a terrible coach.

Butch just doesn't get a pass on Farrer and Voogd. Not when there are innumerable La high school players who can provide what they provided.

All those NBA draft picks from BR? Nobody gets credit for luring them.

Anthony Randolph, Chris Johnson, Magnum Rolle, Regis Koundjia were considered great recruiting coups but only Randolph was really worth a crap and he was one and done. Chris Johnson has been a nice role player for us I guess.

They would have gotten HUGE props for getting the DJ Augustins, Darrell Arthurs and Scottie Reynolds of the world, but it didn't happen.

If you don't really follow basketball, then why do you care if the coach bolts?

If he's in demand after four or five years, that means we've had four or five years of success...hopefully. I'd be fine with that, but so far Johnson looks like the real deal, and I'd like to keep him around for a while.

I have been in Tx the last few yrs so it has been hard to follow it as well as baseball. I really just want to see the program do will in every sport.
