Folks are in on it. It's super cringe. When he did the Final Four picks with the CBS guys, you could see very obvious differences in the envelopes and Chuck basically gave it away

Look at the one with the bills when he “turns the football into a cake”. It’s super obvious when the camera cuts back to the ball that it was switched for a cake that looked like a football. It wasn’t even a good one either. I’ve seen better on Is It Cake? on Netflix.

Inside Edition did a segment on him this week while I was cooking so I didn't catch everything, but he was busted on camera.
There is a certain type of paper he uses that he writes the # after the fact. He had a man standing with his back to the camera and he used his finger to quickly write on the outside of the envelop. Then pulled the paper out of the envelop. After the reporter showed him the video and asked him if that was the case, he said "close."
