We are a party to a major shift in college football. This is strange and revolutionary.

Kiffin is focusing on his team and its moment. He’s not invested in the hate of a rivalry that is not his. NIL and the portal have changed the fabric of the sport. His version of loyalty is to his team that he has grinded with all season. It’s ok. It takes courage. This is not your father’s sport any longer. I’m proud he will be a tiger soon (I think ??)

I do think it leads to changes in the football calendar for recruiting, transfers, etc

I thought his comments about the egg bowl on this point were kind of sad where they had to explain to the players what it meant because half the team wasn't from Mississippi. To your point, the fans are invested but not the players and coaches without some motivation and buy-in.

If what you say is true, college football will be dead inside of a decade.

I don’t think we can fully understand how it will change the sport and amateurism in general.

We are just watching the death rattle of college football now. It’s going the way of NASCAR.

Changes means different not death. A new version will emerge. Ultimately the market will drive it.

3 of LSU's appearances in national championship games were the impetus for changes in the championship game. LSU vs. BAMA in the NC basically brought about the playoff.
