Is that a choice the HC gets to make?

There was a lot of praise when we got Austin and his current staff members?

Just curious if they stay at LSU in the transition.

Personally would like Corey and Frank.

But it’s all Kiffin’s call if he comes.

Not talking about coaches. Talking about off field GM staff.

Kiffin will likely keep Austin Thomas and staff if hired.

Lane Kiffin hired Austin Thomas to his staff at Ole Miss as the football chief of staff in early 2022. Thomas served in that role for two seasons (2022-2023) before returning to LSU in January 2024 to serve in a senior athletics administration role.

Thats one take.
Another take is Austin left Kiffin, and Kiffin is notoriously petty. He may bring his guy from OM with him and send AT packing.

Nobody knows.

It’s been pretty well known from the people with supposed “sauces” that Kiffin wants AT gone. He must of burned a bridge with him when he left him to go back to LSU.

Question for the board: how much responsibility does Austin Thomas have for the current gaps on a roster? specifically offensive line and lack of depth at quarterback.

Lane is petty, he won't keep a guy that left him.

I mean... Kiffin should be understanding to his decision to leave for a better job. Thats basically what he's doing if he takes the LSU job

Kiffin can bring / hire whoever he wants. If that means getting rid of Austin Thomas, Blake Baker, Frank Wilson, or Corey Raymond, then it is what it is.

He better keep Raymond. Be great to keep Baker, Frank, and AT too.

Raymond is really the only coach that exceeded expectations this year with his group. No other coach did.....so the others can be replaced with equal or better hires.

i think people mixed information and came to this conclusion incorrectly. Florida sources were saying that Lane wanted full control of all aspects and that Florida's AD wanted Lane to keep the existing GM there instead. This led to people assuming that Lane would want to bring the same GM from Ole Miss to LSU and replace Austin Thomas.

There haven't been any good sources saying what Lane would do with the GM position at LSU, if LSU made promises that he could have full control over that, etc. They are two completely separate situations in that Lane has never worked with Nick Polk (Florida's GM), and Lane has worked with Austin Thomas at Tennessee, USC, and Ole Miss.

Not saying he wouldn't replace Austin Thomas and bring his guy from Ole Miss. But, this is where these rumors came from and they are unfounded.

Not to mention AT may have provided some inroads to Kiffin during this process.

Our roster has been pretty poo from a balance perspective the last 2 seasons. Maybe AT is the problem too

Idgaf about Thomas. His personnel decisions/relations are clearly not irreplaceable. Our roster has huge holes.
