Need to get my son's car moved from a store parking lot and back to my house until my BiL can come get it.

Probably 5-6 mile move and I know they charge flat rate, so any recommendations?

Car is an automatic, won't start, possible head gasket blown, etc.

Thanks and if that was my option, I wouldn't have asked.

Thanks.

Does your son have roadside service/towing on his insurance? If he does, just call your insurance and have them tow it and pay for it.

A towing claim does not affect your rates. The only caveat is that they will only pay for 1 tow per breakdown. So either from the place of breakdown to your home - as long as it’s a reasonable distance or from your home to a local shop.

It’s never not an option to tie a rope from someone’s trailer hitch to the front of the cars frame and pull it 5 miles.

You could almost push it that close.

Why is that not an option?

What about free towing with roadside cell phone insurance? They used to have free towing in the cell phone insurance plans.
