"Martin" Van Buren has a major, major QB issue. His pass accuracy is decent, moves well, etc However, MOST of the time he is throwing to the wrong WR.
1) on the B Brown PI play in the EZ, I believe it was green eating a hot dog near the LOS in front of the WKU bench with no one within 20 yards of him (busted coverage?)
2) on the double blitz from the left side, there was an LSU receiver (Sharp or someone) past the LOS on the right side not covered at all
3) on the 4th down pass to T Green, Sharp was WIDE open to the right just past the LOS and I believe another receiver in the middle of the field wide open

I realize that plays happen fast but these are very quick scans right at the LOS with big gain potential. My God, has MVB never played QB before. There are EASY throws. I do NOT blame him for the INT as that was just a great, athletic play jumping up. But MVB throws to the wrong receiver a LOT of the time and that is on him.

The question to me is his ceiling. He’s clearly not there yet but can he be the guy? It’s hard to know

Yeah, but he did start like 9 games for Miss State last year so he has now started for multiple SEC teams. I guess he is the Cooper Rush of college football.

His accuracy isn't very good. But this offensive line is going to skew any qbs numbers. You hit the portal for the best two guards,a right tackle, blocking TE you can find and atleast set yourself up to be able to run the football next year and have a game manager type qb that isn't asked to do everything.

It looks like the "lights are too bright" for him at this level. It takes him two series to "settle down".

However, he nearly always goes to the first option, regardless if they are covered are not. I see taking a few chances on the "one on one" deep passes, but he has to make better decisions on the shorter passes.

Most of that is probably because he doesn't have time to scan the field because of the OL.

I still say he needs to run more. He ran a few read options in the 2nd half, but of course he handed off every damn time.

Look, the entire offense sucks. Green should have caught the 3rd down pass last night. It was in his hands and he is 6'7. Remember the wide open pass to him on 3rd down against Bama by our goal line when MVB hit him in the hands after being under duress with no one in the same zip code as him? We just don't make plays even when our QBs find the right guys.

Seriously, what do we have on offense? MVB has accuracy issues, but hasn't even had AA to throw to because he is injured. Brown has been a big disappointment, the other Anderson is hurt, Hilton has been a complete non-factor, most people didn't want Sharp even on the field again after the Bama fumble (though he caught a nice TD from MVB last week), Green has been very inconsistent and Parker has shown some flashes. Thomas has been the only consistent player on offense making some plays.
