I hunt in both Louisiana and Arkansas. Their “primitive season” are a little different. You have to hunt with a straight-walled cartridge in Ark. I got a .350 Legend that uses the straight wall to use in both states, and I’m loving it. VERY little recoil, and it’s been lethal so far. Just FYI.

These rules are so damned annoying. Its still a scoped centerfire rifle. Its hardly if any handicap vs everybody's normal hunting rifle.

Just charge me $50 to use my regular rifle two extra weeks. Thats all this shite is about anyway. Louisiana is worse. Can't use a lever action .30-30 but can use a single shot 700 yard capable elk rifle

Primitive aside, it's probably the best youth gun available inside 125 yards.

I got my son a CVA Scout Takedown 350 Legend last Christmas when he was 7yo. Leupold freedom 4-12x50 with a 36M on it shooting 170gr Barnes. Great combo! Light, short, no recoil etc. He’s taken hogs and a doe with it thus far with great results.

Also, I agree on primitive season being a joke but he’ll be able to use it to primitive hunt when he’s older, too.

Picked up a CVA .350 legend a couple of years ago as well to hunt the primitive season. Got the Leupold Freedom 3-9X40 350 Legend duplex scope for it, and killed a doe last January with it.

I loan my pop my old Thompson .50 cal black powder rifle when we go since he doesn’t have a primitive eligible rifle.

Wanted a Henry but couldn’t find one and finally just got the CVA instead after Lafayette Shooters never called me back for over 9 months of being on a back ordet waiting list (they still haven’t called over a year later).

My son in law uses a single shot .45-70, it has a big heavy weight in the stock to reduce the recoil.

I was also looking at the H&R or Rossi crack barrels in 223. So the 350 doesn't kick bad?

Crack barrel .223? Don’t do that.

Diving deeper, Winchester says it has nearly 63% less recoil than the 450 Bushmaster, 18% less than .243 Win, and 11% less than 30-30 Win. The 350 gets over 23% more penetration than .243 Win and 60% more than .223 Rem. It even has over 14% more energy than 300 Blackout, 15% more than 30-30 Win, and 49% more than .223 Rem.

Its a really good option. I've only shot one at a target and haven't seen a deer killed with one yet but the recoil is very light.

My cousin has one and after his son killed a dozen deer with it and wanted another gun he now uses it almost exclusively. Says it's a deer slayer.

As far as primitive weapons go, I'd wager that a fellow with a bolt action 270 using iron sights is far more primitive than a fellow with a single shot 350 legend with a Leopold vari x 5 on it.
