Alternate history: Flynn wins starting job after the Peach bowl, is LSU 2006 NC?

Would Les have back to back NCs?
I think Flynn could have pulled it off. He was a better QB than Russell, just not as good a specimen. Jimbo had blinders on when it came to Jamarcus.

Play calling and the officials lost us the game at auburn, not Jamarcus

Always the refs. We’ve never lost

Flynn lost as many games in 2007 as we lost in 2006, with a much more favorable schedule. Flynn went 17-35 and threw a pick against Kentucky, and went 22-47 with a pick in a home game against Arkansas. What you should be asking is does LSU go undefeated if Ryan Perilloux starts the entire 2007 season.

Flynn was light years better QB than Jamarcus!
2 losses in 2006 (Jamarcus) we scored 3 points against Auburn and 10 against Florida. Both CLEARLY due to Jamarcus
The LOWEST point total of Flynn’s CAREER was 27.
He wasn’t as big as Jamarcus and couldn’t throw the ball as far, but Flynn was a MUCH better and more efficient QB
And it was not close

by what metrics?

What revisionist history bullshite
Matt completed 56% of his passes for 2400 yards with 21 TDs to 11 ints averaging 6.7 ypa. In our first OT loss he completed 48% for 130 with 1 TD and 1 int.
We beat South Carolina by 8 points, by him completing 42% of his 19 passes for 70 yards with 1 TD and 1 int
In the 2nd OT loss he threw the ball 47 times for 209 with 3 TDs. He also ran for a TD.
Think of playing as bad as Nuss did vs TAMU and Matt did that a couple times that year during our championship run. He made some damn good clutch moments too, but if LSU has Russell for 2007, we go undefeated and Russ wins the heisman. Russ only got like that after losing relatives and going after contract disputes as a rookie.

Lol at you for thinking Flynn was a better QB than Jamarcus in college. The refs at Auburn beat us in '06.

Every single metric says the exact opposite. Every single one, except the fact that LSU somehow lucked their way into the national championship game after two terrible losses to teams we should have destroyed except for piss poor qb play in both games. Im not hating on Flynn, he was an above average qb, but people really disrespect Jamarcus' LSU career with this crap because he had personal problems that led to being a bust in the NFL.

Jamarcus Russell was an incredible college QB. Matt Flynn was good, but he was nowhere near Jamarcus Russel.

LSU wasn't winning it in 2006. The SEC saw to that.

tRant loves a good QB debate. Always has. Baw had this one on his mind for 20 years and had to get it out this morning.

Flynn was not better than Russell as a college qb, he wasn’t even particularly close to Russell. That’s laughable revisionists history based on their nfl careers
