OM 247's Mod Response to the "Statement"

"I'm stunned. I really didn't think Door No. 3 was a serious option.
My guess is Kiffin said he hasn't made a decision and Ole Miss feels it doesn't have the goods to legally suspend him.
Unless damn near everyone is lying, he's going to be LSU's next coach and will be in Baton Rouge at some point next wekeend. I know a lot more there than I can report. Kiffin's deal was discussed in the Board of Supervisors meeting and the Kiffins have been looking at real estate in the Baton Rouge area. There's more, but I need to protect sources who have been nothing but good to me.
I can tell you the SEC Network crew in Baton Rouge for tomorrow's WKU-LSU game all believe Kiffin is LSU's coach. The number on the deal is somewhere between $14-15 million per year.
Logic tells you that if Kiffin were even thinking of staying, the last week wouldn't have happened. And I'm so sick of "Well, Lane's differfent..." Shut up. That's stupid. Occam's Razor is a real thing.
Might he stay? I mean, I guess, but the damage that's been done is real.
This is real risk on Ole Miss' part. Incredible risk. A loss to MSU on Friday, followed by Kiffin's departure for a bitter rival the next day, is deadly to CFP chances. They have to know that.
And if you're saying an announcement is coming on a given day, you already know the announcement.
If I'm right, a guy who is going to be LSU's next coach is going to coach Ole Miss' biggest regular season game with a spot in the CFP on the line. Incredible."
This is just incredible, honestly.

There's almost zero reason to believe that he's staying.
Guy doesn't need another week. This was the bye week. He did all of his thinking already.

I just don't understand why Kiffin would even want to coach the Egg Bowl if he knows he's coming here

this was a public meeting, no? should be easily verifiable.

Then why couldn’t we just get this shite over with today. Waiting another week if it’s already done is so pointless

This whole thing is out of control. Needs to end.

Hes trying to do the right thing by his team and current employer
If it were up to Kiff he would coach through the playoff but that's impossible with the CFB Calender as its currently constructed. This is the happy medium.

Because he cares about his players and wants to make sure they make the playoffs before his exit. just a guess

Because despite what the media tells you he isn't a terrible person and genuinely cares about his players. Winng your last game against a rival isn't a bad way to go out.

If he signed with Ole Miss, they would have sprinted to the microphone with the news
He's gone... it's over
He's gone... it's over

His player's and Ole Miss themselves might run him off before next week.

So that the team doesn't check out against a scrappy MSU team in a rivalry game and lose a playoff spot.
What actually happened, Lane told him he was leaving. AD/Lane decided it would be best to finish out the season and get the team into the playoff. From there it's on whoever.

If he's honestly leaving (which is still not known) then maybe he'd have the decency to agree with Ole Miss that any such announcement would be withheld until they get their playoff seeding offically announced.
