Why is the idea of LSU’s intention to hire Lane not sincere creeping into my head?

Seems like LSU could be very well crushing the bid price for Lane, subsequently stretching Ole Miss resources to the max to match LSU’s bid then LSU backs off at the last second and snags Sumrall at a discount of $7 million a year for 6 years. Meanwhile LSU has a lot less money tied up in the HC compared to Ole Miss that can be used in football operations elsewhere.

You’re either with us or against us.

Whether that was strategy or we just missed and he stays at Ole Miss, result the same. They will be stretched for sure. They had a great team last year and we beat them with BK as coach. Hopefully we simply upgrade from BK and we'll be ok if we get LK or don't. Just wish it was final so we could move on.

This has always been my hope.

I have also seen the the hires of DiNardo, Saban, Miles, Orgeron, and Kelly. None of them were the name at the top of the fans' list when they were hired.

I expect history will be repeating itself, but ranttards are going to rant and tard.

Probably because you're starting to doubt that it's going to happen, so you're making up rationalizations to help ease the inevitable disappointment.

Probably some truth in this statement, but LSU will be OK with or without Lane if commitment to NIL remains similar with next coach. I like idea of Dilly but I just hope administration at LSU has been working with someone other than Lane so that they can pivot quickly to Candidate B by end of November.

I’m sure it’s sincere. But Lane is on the cusp of the playoffs. The timing sucks and it’s not happening even if he might want to leave. I wish people would think logically. I really wish we knew who the realistic candidates are.

I'm probably one of the few who doesn't want Kiffin, and would rather LSU take a chance on a mid-major guy. I can just imagine offering Kiffin even more than BK, and having the whole thing blow up in our faces again.

I just wonder what it's going to take to break the cycle of over-paying coaches and ending up being on the hook for 10s of millions of dollars to someone having mai tais on a beach somewhere.
