Yeah he will get a bump in pay. But the real prize for him was getting OM to commit NIL $$$ on par with the LSUs of the world.

How does that make sense? If OM wanted him to stay wouldn’t they just say here it is, here is the best when can do. The NIL being the thing he is wanting to go through all of this doesn’t make sense to me.

Having grown up around the Ole Miss alumni attorney crowd I can tell you they will sell their souls for a national championship.
Ole Miss doesn't have any problems raising money from boosters and alumni.
The administration may have not been on board shelling out millions of dollars to recruits, but their booster network is stacked.

His family saw the sites. Made OM extremely nervous. Got LSU to make a huge offer. Brought offer to OM and said this is the commitment I’m looking for and it’s real. OM matches.

Maybe. Maybe that's how it started and when LSU put it's offer on the table, Lane had to do a double take and really think hard about the future of NIL (not just money, but the mechanism of getting it past the clearinghouse and to the student athlete). LSU was ready with a loaded gun and shot its shot. We'll see how it lands.
