And now Miles gets to tell Randle how it is going to be for at least the next three years.

In my opinion, Emmitt Randle is a dickhead. That shite he pulled was low. I agree Miles had to go with Reuben over Benton, but I hope that comes back to haunt Emmitt, somehow.

Understand that I'm flaming Mr. Randle, not anyone else, including Reuben. Emmitt had no business in the world being able to influence somebody else's college career.

Depends on the context you read it in. Because he precedes this comment with something along the lines of "I didn't give him an ultimatum...I just told him how it was going to be". Miles still had a decision to make, and I think he made the right one.

I realize Miles had no choice but to land Randle, but man... my respect for Miles would have been through the roof if he'd told Emmitt to go frick himself.

Let's be honest though, it has nothing to do with respect. Urban is a POS but the media respects him because he wins. Kiffin is a POS and the media doesn't respect him because he hasn't done anything.

Being respected is only as good as your record. Nobody is going to respect Miles any more from the Bama or Auburn fanbase because of how he reacted to the recruitment of a high school kid.

I don't think it is crappy or selfish at all. You have two excellent players and if the depth chart will cut into playing time that is a real issue for a prospect considering a school. Rueben's father voiced his concern and the coaching staff made an excellent choice. This decision will end up reaping benefits to both Rueben and Benton, each will have a better chance to stand out. I truly think that Rueben's father was looking out for his son, primarily, but he also was concerned about Benton's playing time. This is the sort of communication which needs to take place between a coach, a recruit and parents. It's too bad it got blown up in the media; it makes you realize why Coach Miles is so tight lipped.

Honestly.. if Alabama couldn't get RR? I wish there had been a way Les could have gotten Randle, and still told Emmitt to go frick himself. Maybe I'm over reacting, but if chafes my nads that he caused another kid to do something he didn't want to do. I hope it works out for Benton.

I think this is just Emmitt Randle trying to live through his son. He loves getting all this attention.

This was a good move by Miles. Randle is the best receiver in this entire class by leaps and bounds, Green or Jones type player, and while I really think Benton is a great player and could be every bit as good as those players, he is on his third try to get into school. That is a huge risk and something that no coach would be smart to make when given the two options.

I'm just saying, if Miles tells him to go F himself and Randle goes to Bama (I still think OU was likely #2 but stay with me for the example) then the Bama fanbase would just act like Saban stole the best player and that Miles is going to implode, etc. Nobody would be talking about how he is respected. Where are you living dude?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well it was very altruistic for Emmit to be looking out for Benton's best interest! lol That is hogwash. Why not let Benton decide on which school to go to instead, since RR supposedly had no problem competing. The fact of the matter is that what was good for RR was not 100% in the best interest for LSU. RR and Benton would have been better for LSU's chances for a National Championship not just RR. It was in LSU best interest to get RR over Benton but it would have been better to get both. I don't believe RR is afraid to compete against current LSU receivers but I do think he didn't want to compete against Benton. Emmit is obviously a loving father looking out for his son's best interest. Can't blame him for that.

i just lost a lot of respect for mr. randle. he pretty much just said RR wants pt his freshman year and didn't want to compete. it just makes me sick to see recruits and parents think they HAVE to play their freshman year. personally, i would be more concerned about the wr depth and qb situation for my sophomore, junior, and senior years. the short-sightedness of recruits and their families is amazing.

Given the circumstances, Miles did the only thing he could.
Also, I see where Randle is coming from as well. He's looking out for what he thought is the best interest of his son. And that's the way it should be.
