Feels too familiar

I've been trying to get how I feel about every scenario into words. I believe that Lane will probably stay, or should I say that's probably best for his legacy and reputation that he worked to clean up.
Through the lens of an LSU fan:
Lane @ Ole Miss: Whatever, we've dealt with it the past 6 years and we will continue to trade wins and losses with him for the next 6 years, if we won't get him this feels fine to me
Lane @ LSU: Yes, this is what we want, much of that has to do with what he was able to do with the literal turd bucket he brought UM from over his tenure and the type of personal relationships he has with both staff and players. People want to play for him, work for him, and cheer for him. Lane would have comparable if not the most success he's ever had at a place like LSU, no doubt. I think part of the push to get Lane is also because it feels like what he can do here would mirror what Saban was able to do at Alabama... which leads me to my next point
Lane @ Florida: I think this throws the entire wrench into everything. It isn't just Lane going to UF, like I just said this feels a lot like the next stop this guy makes he will make major change. LSU already being on the shite end of that stick with Saban makes this so much more enthralling. It feels like if we can get Lane or at least keep him away from Florida, then we wont have to live through a Saban-era coaching change that direct effects us in the SEC. If this was just a matter between Ole Miss and LSU, brother let them have him and we'll go get a younger comparable guy like Dilly. Because of the implications that Lane going to Florida would have, this has us all up in arms and ready to bite at anything we can grab a hold of.
Again, I believe he is staying at Ole Miss, I'd love if I were wrong in him picking LSU, but I think it would feel too familiar if he ended up deciding to ride into the sunset in Gainsville.

I agree that he'll probably stay with Ole Miss. That's been my feeling all along. I think he'd leave if they weren't going to be in the playoffs btw.

At least we don't play UF every year anymore, although I am going to miss that rivalry tremendously.
Especially because we have absolutely dominated their arse the last 15 years.

The irony is that if he weren’t making a playoff run, nobody would be after him as much.

If Sydney Sweeney didn't have huge tits she wouldn't be as hot

ehh, maybe but him having all those 10 win seasons at old piss is pretty damn impressive. i mean freeze and cutcliffe could not do it. of course that was pre NIL.

We're definitely going to see coaches leave their teams before the playoffs now though. It's going to happen. I don't really like it, but that's where the sport is now.

yup. takes too long to finish now and teams will not wait with the possibility to be hung out to dry plus miss transfer portal date.

This could not be further from the truth. Now that Florida is no longer an every year opponent, it would be better for LSU for him to go to Florida vs. him stay at Ole Miss.

not necessarily the point I was making. Saban leaving LSU and having success at bama burned because he played us every year sure, but even if he went to UCLA and gained 6 titles at a program with less resources than us after leaving us (or in Lane's case, not picking us) that is the burn mark. Sure, we wont play florida every year, but if he goes and wins 8 SEC titles and 4 nattys with them we will be sitting here once again saying "what if..."
