It’s essentially starting the clock now.

You are figuring out what pieces fits and what don’t. Aka throw Zion in the trash. Trading Zion is the future of our organization.

Despite the petulant rants of the draft trade, you struck gold on fears and queen. Grow them. Fertilize them.

You have a long time to assess berrego ? And figure out a plan at HC. I like how he bought himself time here. He let Willie fail, and gets to look at new guy extended here.

Trey Murphy and formerly not on herb are two other huge pieces that need to be figured out.

Our fans need to give Dumars a little bit of time. The immature immediate hot takes do nobody no good. frick off w all that. Our organization was a frick show mainly cause Zion is so fricking cancerous draining the life out of everyone in the building.

Maybe but we need a culture change. It has to start w the right coach and the right vets leading the youth. Zion is cancer and few others are not making strides necessary. Another rookie ain’t fixing much more.

Look at this team with Zion on the court and Zion off the court…

And ignorant people still want to trade him?

You have to figure out the health, it’s the only chance of this team to actually compete.

In a hypothetical, fairy tale world where Zion stays healthy the rest of season, this team makes the play in. I just don’t buy it after he got hurt 5 games in. Then you have to ask, how is this team going to improve next season with no picks? It’s possible it improves just from Queen and Fears taking a 2nd year jump but unlikely. Through no fault of our, free agency is a bust for us almost every year. However, Bey has been a great acquisition. If we could evaluate this team at full health, we’d know if they have potential just by letting them grow and mature together, problem is someone significant is always hurt.

You can get into the 1st round without trading Zion.

I think Jose can probably net a protected 1st from someone, Herb could also.

You can’t rely on Zion going to be healthy. You have to let that go! If 6 years hasn’t shown you then I don’t know what is.

You have to let Zion play for a stretch in order to build up his trade value then trade him in order rebuild around Fears and Queen and.

Herb is a winner. Definitely worth a 1st but I think he’s worth more to us. Wonder what Missi would fetch? What would you think about a player like D’Angelo Russell? Too streaky like Poole? Team needs more shooting.

Definitely too streaky.

I would try to trade Herb for a 1st and some salary relief to give us some room to sign Beasley.

Beasley would be great on this team but he was amazing last year, so why is he still unsigned? Gotta think there’s lingering legal issues.

With the gambling thing it was cleared late in the game and everyone already filled their rosters up with guaranteed salaries.

I think he’s just waiting on someone to call that has room and needs a shooter, apparently the league has cleared him.

Coby White, Ayo Dosu no, and Kevin Huerter are all being free agents this summer. You have to imagine the Bulls won't pay to keep all of them. Pelicans needs to look at guys like these who are going to be available and can play the role the Pelicans desperate need ie. Ball handling and shooting.

This team needs a pure shooter, like a Duncan Robinson. I actually thought Hawkins looked decent last night. He might be worth keeping around on a team friendly contract. He needs to get more 3 point shots off.

Are you serious about rebuilding or not? If you are serious about rebuilding, you need assets. A rebuilding team isn’t winning anything for the next 3 years, so Herb being a winner is useless for building a contending team. They need assets.

The team trying to win while also trying to rebuild is why they are always stuck in the bottom half of the West. If you’re going to rebuild, do it right and collect as many assets as possible.

Trying to rebuild without tearing it all down might net you a competitive team. But unless you’re satisfied with being a competitive team at best, a complete tear down and rebuild could net a contending team. Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, San Antonio, OKC, etc all did it this way.

Dumars should be fired before the season is over. He can't really do much with the trainwreck this season and god forbid, management allows him to make more trades.

I forgot you're a Dumars fanboy. The Pelicans hired a new head of basketball operation and somehow got worse. It was literally the worst hire of the offseason of any team in the NBA. The Queen trade just proves that. Don't be so naïve

I understand yall are upset that we suck and don’t have a pick to even tank for. But Queen looks like a franchise player.. meaning it was likely a good trade. Now the Pacers trade? That one never made sense to me why you would trade a pick for a team that is still in season.

The Pelicans could easily have Queen and their first round pick next season. So it's 100% one of the worst trades in the NBA. Almost as bad as the Luka trade.

IF that was true then, yes, obviously that would be a catastrophic failure. But you don’t know that for a certainty. Dumars hit em with a godfather offer, one they couldn’t refuse!
