We were in San Diego for a visit and thought we’d just try to walk up at Torrey Pines and get a tee time. It was a Tuesday and some rain was forecast. I had a contingency for my daughter and I - but it worked - got there at 8:30 and got a tee time for 11:00 - and a junior rate for my daughter. It was beyond spectacular… very impressed and they were building the bleachers for the Farmers. Had to excellent players who joined us - great day

Highly recommend…

Yea it's a pretty good experience.

Did you play the North or South course? Both are exceptional and surprisingly not that challenging when the rough isn't grown up. Very fun and fair.

It’s truly a gem of muni golf.

Was lucky enough to play the South in high school from the tips and shot about a million.

I played the North course about this time last year and the rough was already being grown up. It was easy to lose a ball two feet off the fairway. It’s a beautiful course though.

Played South - my daughter was E From whites - like 6145 - had 4 birdies / 4 bogeys she smoked me 6/4 but I played well for me…

Yea the rough draft as the most punitive I’ve seen - crazy deep… what a great experience :)

Beautiful courses. I went to the tournament years ago but have never been able to play there.

In general you can get on most public courses as a single. I was skeptical when I went down to Pebble Beach to try it. When I went in the pro shop to inquire about a possible opening for a single, they asked me if I could be on the first tee in 10 minutes. I paid the fee (ouch), went to the tee, and was off and running. People make their reservations early, and something always comes up for several players during a typical day.
